High Fiction is an indie rock duo based in Denver, Colorado, consisting of Gary Grundei and Amy Shelley. Both musicians draw from their eclectic backgrounds as professional musicians; blending rock, jazz, funk, Brazilian, musical theater, and classical music to create pop tunes with distinctive shape, layers, and compelling storytelling. High Fiction is known for curating unique events that are part concert, part community gatherings, simultaneously entertaining and magical, theatrical and introspective. Gary plays keyboards, various other miscellaneous instruments and sings with a voice that both draws you in and breaks your heart. Amy plays drums, sings and adds odd instruments that you might find at your grandfather’s favorite thrift store.

Gary Grundei is an award-winning musician and teacher based in NYC. He is the founder of golden lotus studio, an online community for songwriters. Gary is well-known for his work with the band High Fiction, composing music for theater, film, and podcasts, as well as coaching and producing other artists. Gary has written music for NPR, and MTV, as well as for prestigious institutions such as The Kennedy Center and New York Stage and Film. He has taught at universities such as Naropa University and Occidental College, and worked on projects with Meredith Monk, Bill Pullman, and Leigh Fondakowski. He and Amy Shelley make records under the moniker High Fiction.
