Improvised music. An urban farm. Springing plants. Locally-sourced brunch. All these elements came together on Sunday afternoon’s Music for Plants – a performance of improvised music where artists created soundscapes and textures inspired by their interactions with the plants at Common Roots Urban Farm as part of OBEY Convention VI, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Featuring the sounds of Journeys (Lindsay Dobbin, Jesse Frank Matthews and Evan Cardwell), Tim Crabtree and Solomon Vromans. Common Roots Urban Farm aims to deepen the connection between people and nature, and the musicians were thrilled to be part of that adventure by offering improvised sound as a modality to grow food and community.
