Just Another Day

We shout in silence

A cover version by Jimmy Rivas and myself of the gorgeous Led Zeppelin track, ‘The Rain Song’. Written by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, it appeared on their 1973 album ‘Houses of the Holy’.

  I’ve always loved the song and decided earlier this year to learn how to play it and having learned it, I thought I’d attempt to record it. I wanted to make it a big production and after more time and more takes than it probably took Led Zeppelin to record the entire album, I ended up with something I thought sounded half decent, so I sent it to Jimmy and asked if he’d care to join me. Luckily for me he agreed and sent me an outstanding vocal track stamping his unmistakable mark on the song. Thank you Jimmy.

Life's a simulation

Slinky fin, with a mushroom grin,
Whispers jelly-latin words again.
"I saw the moon in a pasta bowl,"
Said the carp with a crooked soul.

Fungal choir on a lily pad deep,
Shallow squids have a grudge to keep.

Talkin’ back in a spore-drenched groove,
Wiggle like a walrus, can't disapprove.
Snap of a fin, cha-cha-cha,
Brain made of tofu, laws of blah.

Squish-squash jazz in the belly of a trout,
“Who named the trees?” the catfish shout!
Bassline swims in a velvet crack,
Down in Mycelium Lake, they talk back.

Oysters arguing with spores in verse,
“Reality’s a noodle — or maybe worse.”
Trombones gurgle through the fungal tide,
While a shrimp recites Hamlet, eyes all wide.

So if you drift near the moonlit slime,
Bring a pun and a nursery rhyme.

Independent Artist / Guitarist / Music Producer.

After picking up my first six string at fourteen years of age, it was soon apparent to me that this was an instrument of fascination and vast expression. I vividly remember watching live musicians at a young impressionable age, being blown away by what I had just seen, and have had a love for the instrument and music, ever since. My love for the guitar, and trade background also led to working with some of Adelaide's top guitar luthiers, restoring, and refinishing new and vintage guitars. I have also finished and customised my personal guitars and amps over the years.

My musical journey has led me through such experiences as cofounding a hard rock cover band, spanning almost a decade playing Adelaide’s pub scene, as well as some great parties, corporate and community events. There have been numerous original bands in the genre of metal, punk rock, soft rock, folk, to acoustic duo.
While with these bands, I’ve been fortunate to have been included in the production and release of four EP’s, some memorable musical moments, countless live performances. Including Adelaide Fringe Festival, and Adelaide Guitar Festival.
Over the years, I have established a recording studio, and undertaken some of the recording, mixing and mastering duties for the bands I have been involved with. I have also continued to pursue my own solo music.
Through this process, I have been fortunate to have collaborated with some very talented Australian, UK and American artists, which has furthered my songwriting and musical journey. I enjoy the continual learning process of collaboration, as well as pursuing my solo music.
