If you've listened to the previous sessions you'd probably noticed that most of the playlists end with a few tunes from the Studio One Label. Well, these are all the tunes compiled into one Studio One Rub-a-Dub session.
Every tune featured was produced and arranged by the legendary Clement Seymour 'Sir Coxsone' Dodd @ his recording facilities at 13 Brentford Road, Kingston 5 - The Jamaican Recording and Publishing Studio which opened in 1963.
Throughout the 1960s, Studio One was considered the University of Jamaican music. It was the studio where the majority of Jamaica's most prestigious musical artists got their start. 
Studio One released some of the most significant and enduring Jamaican records of all time and created a series of rhythm tracks that would serve as the foundations of songs for decades. 
Coxsone’s most popular tracks were always recycled and re recorded in a musical tradition built on borrowing and collaborating.

Studio One Showcase - The Original Part 1

When you listen to a lot of Roots music you hear a lot of the messages expressed are about Rastafari, Marcus Garvey, life choices/styles, Babylon system, sufferation, prejudice, oppression and the like. It's a good thing, because it teaches us about survival, livity, culture and the experiences and struggle, primarily back when a lot of this music was recorded. The struggle stands out but there was a lot of love, vibes, happiness & joy included in the music.

So here comes a musical ting' called ‘Lovers Roots’. Spanning the years 1969-1984 this is a collection of sweet reggae music backed some heavy riddims with a lovers feel. Played in the dancehall or blues dances where you could 'rub up' on your partner and whisper sweet nothings. This is original Roots reggae music fi di lovers dem. Listen to it. It wicked.

I grew up listening to a brazilian version of it, but soon I got to know this original (and much more beautiful!!) version. I can say that this tune blew my mind, and started my interest in love ballads. Enjoy!!

Cliff Richard & The Shadows were one of the greatest things England has ever produced. They were shaped by the early Elvis Presley with some great Doo Wop stuffs.
Unfortunately, I never get the chance to see this movie, but this song was one of my favorites. Enjoy!
