International House DJ, Producer, Radio personality, Tastemaker and label boss just about sums up DJ Pioneer. A DJ since the age of 17, Pioneer’s passion for music hasn’t changed one bit as his career becomes more successful. His unique mixing ability and handpicked selection is renowned for providing an electric vibe for clubbers and radio listeners across the World. 

Originally influenced by the sound system culture and then jungle music, Pioneer started collecting vinyl whilst at school before he owned a pair of decks. He is no stranger to House and Garage music. Up until 2008, Pioneer had played on several giant Pirate Radio stations including Pure Magic, London Underground, Y2K and Déjà Vu FM. Playing at legendary events such as Pure Silk, Exposure, Sun City and Pure Old Skool to name a few. Pioneer also worked at the ‘Wired for Sound’ record store in his hometown Hackney from 2001 until its closure in 2009. This helped him to understand and appreciate other genres of music more and inspire his taste for new sounds. 

Amongst others, Pioneer was responsible for bringing a new genre to the streets in 2006. UK Funky was emerging, influenced by the Soulful, Funky House and broken beats that Pioneer was playing at the time. His hard work and ever popular club sets and had not gone unnoticed and in 2008, Pioneer progressed to legal radio and joined Kiss FM. In 2009, Ministry of Sound released the compilation ‘The Sound of UK Funky’ mixed by DJ Pioneer. Pioneer featured tracks from Robin S, Ultra Nate, Crazy Cousinz and more. This received great feedback and allowed Pioneer to feature some of the tracks he was responsible for breaking into the scene. In 2010, Pioneer began producing and made his debut with a Funky House track titled ‘Stronger’ featuring Egypt which received great support from the underground, mainstream radio and Sky TV and was also performed at the London Fashion Week.  

Pioneer is now into his 7th year on the UK’s leading dance radio station, Kiss FM. In this, time, he’s championed and played tracks which have eventually progressed onto commercial radio playlists with acts such as MK, Rudimental, Dennis Ferrer, Roska, Donaeo, Kenny Dope, Black Coffee and more recently the chart topping Storm Queen

Pioneer launched his record label in 2012, SOTU (Sounds Of The Underground) Recordings. With 12 releases to date and loads in the pipeline, the label is already proving to be success as it represents the sound of the UK club scene genres from Underground House to Bass and is home to some of the finest up and coming producers. DJ Pioneer has also remixed tracks for world famous Universal Records and has also had one of his remixes signed by Puma for their Cobra Golf advertising campaign and the ‘Cobra Golf Orange Out’ iPhone app. Pioneer’s latest single ‘Circles’ stayed at no1 in the Maltese PRS charts for 3 weeks in November 2014.

Pioneer continues to headline countless clubs up and down UK and also plays at major festivals such as HD (High Definition) and made his debut at the Isle Of Wight Festival in 2014 where he played to over 75000 people on the main stage.

Internationally, Pioneer plays regularly in Ibiza, Amsterdam, Dubai, Barcelona, Marbella, Egypt, Ayia Napa, Faliraki, Kos, Kavos, Jamaica, Mallorca, The Gambia and Northern Cyprus.

Some artists are driven by the desire for fame. Others are motivated by money. But the Flyght Gang out of Milwaukee, Wisc. has something else on their minds before they step into the recording booth: legacy. “We all can go work [9-to-5s], or we could be in the streets forever. That's easy,” says Flyght Gang’s Big Blu Hunnid. “But I feel like this is something that all of us done gave some of our hearts to, so why not go after it? That's what really makes me want to do it. I want to see our next generations have something to build on.”
Although Flyght Gang is bigger than music, with affiliates in their hometown and throughout the country, the four artists in the group and generals of the crew are Big Blu Hunnid, Bossboi Veella, Max Julian, and Nik Yola. Named for their collective reputation for flyness and as connoisseurs of quality in all its forms, Flyght Gang applies those same discerning tastes to their music. “We've been manicuring our styles for so long that we kind of know the music,” says Blu. “We've been studying business, [...] we been studying what people like. We supposed to be in hip hop.” The group started rapping as youngsters, but didn’t take it seriously until they were adults. Says Max, “we always wrote and we always had raps, but we never put the machine behind it. So when I noticed we had the machine behind it, I know we can do it once we all come together as a unit.”
Before the crew was giving their all to music, they were making moves on the streets of Milwaukee. And though they survived those dangerous times relatively unscathed, it became increasingly clear that they needed to direct their efforts into something positive sooner rather than later. The four decided to pool the money they’d acquired hustling and turn it into a state-of-the-art recording studio called Flyght Studios. This was the moment that their part-time hobby became a full-time passion.
After dropping their first, self-titled, mixtape in the early 2010s, the four-man squad of brothers childhood friend, spent the intervening years gaining experience on the battle circuit and quietly honing their skills in the studio. “We've been rapping in competition with the league our whole lives. So we've been able to change our styles, and adapt to new styles and new ways to rap just off being underground,” says Nik. “I know that we got a bag [of moves] like Kobe. An arsenal. It ain't just one sound it's all sounds.” After devoting the proverbial 10,000 hours required to perfecting their craft, Flyght Gang is ready to show the world what they’ve been working on.
The takeover begins early in 2020, with their recently-released single “Hop Out.”  The menacing, bass-heavy, track finds the squad focused and dead serious about making their mark in the game. The single is just the beginning, with group projects, solo outings, videos, and an overall increase in visibility as the next step in reaching their goals. “Yeah, the bigger picture. The long run,” says Nik. “‘Let your shit bubble quietly, and then you blow. But keep your cool.’ That’s what Jay-Z said.”
And what is the bigger picture? Besides leaving a legacy for the next generation of their respective families, Flyght Gang is determined to leave an even bigger legacy by putting Milwaukee on the map. With Detroit and Chicago enjoying sustained periods of success in the Midwest over the past decade, the lack of representation in hip-hop for the Cream City motivates the four-man crew to grind even harder. Says Bossboi Veella, “Once we get the notoriety, I think it's going to change how people moving now, cause everybody moving the same way.” Big Blu agrees saying, “We want to really build the city a different identity that's separate from Detroit, that's separate from Chicago. Cause we got a group of people that's talented in our city, not just us. And that needs its own lane.”
