The finest curators have an innate understanding & skill to endlessly entertain as well as strongly inform. Knowledgeable & highly adaptive - a risk-taker with a personal voice that asserts itself in all they create. From breaks to techno & everything in between, it is this which juSt b has come to be best noted for.

As an accomplished DJ, radio host, vocalist, producer, published writer, & promo label head, with no shortage of curveballs in her repertoire, she has shared decks with heavyweights like Martin Roth, Cubicolor, John Monkman, Sebastien Leger, Edu Imbernon, Miss Melera, Roy Rosenfeld, Jerome Isma-ae, BLANCAh, & Sasha & Digweed. Also host of a monthly show, Undercurrents, on DIFM, and manager of global community & channel Getting Deeper, she played three European & UK tours in 2019, including host & artist at the world renowned ADE. 

Having released her debut EP in Dec. ’20 on UK imprint Configurations of Self, Feb.4th sees juSt b pair up with a new Hungary-based producer, NorB, for a stunning debut on John Digweed’s iconic Bedrock Records, and has a string of exciting releases slated for the remainder of 2022. NorB 
With career roots in the hospitality industry as a personal chef & hotel manager, music was a strong force in Hungary-born Norbi Szakács’ life from the time he was a child. He grew up listening primarily to trance then progressive, melodic & deep house and now is also influenced by the UK’s breaks culture. He always had a keen interest in how to transform one’s thoughts and innermost feelings into a musical form for others to appreciate. 

This past year, as many of us sought out new life paths, NorB found the opportunity to explore music production for the first time, for which he discovered an immediate passion. In connecting with established Toronto-based artist & vocalist juSt b, of whom he’s been an avid fan & supporter, the two have come together for an exquisite collaboration in the form of a debut 3-track EP, featuring juSt b’s original vocals.

BSV: Hello Dario! The concept of these guest mixes is to alternate artists from native speaking area and artists across the planet in order to spread the common “worldwide” vibe. You've been on electronic music scene for a long time. Are you aware that hardly anyone in the Balkans knows about you?
DARIO SUERTE: Hi, and thanks for having me on your show. Yes, it’s been a while since I first started releasing music, but I haven’t really given much thought to the fact that I’m basically anonymous in the Balkans concerning the whole electronic music scene. I guess I’m kind of a quiet guy, not really active on social media so it’s quite easy to go under the radar that way, but I can’t really say that it’s a good thing because you really need to be pushy to leave your mark in this line of work. Perhaps my approach to music is different because I don’t consider this work at all. It’s all about your inner-self, your emotions, state of mind, hopes and dreams, it’s part of who you are and not what you do. I did a couple of ex-yu remixes recently and posted them on youtube and got a really positive feedback. So I guess my Balkan fanbase is just starting to grow.

BSV: Please describe the feeling when you rendered your first track and when was that?
DARIO SUERTE: Like I said, it’s been quite a while since I started experimenting with music, but my first official release was back in 2008 under the alias Effective Thief. Being accepted to your first label and having your track released to the world is a unique experience, like the first time when you score a goal as a kid, or graduate from high school. It’s definitely a milestone in a musicians life.

BSV: Favorite effect? Is that filter?
DARIO SUERTE: This is a tough question. It really depends on the mood and genre of the track, but if I were to pick something out of the effects bundle I’d definitely say reverb and delay. There’s just some mystical feeling to the synth or drum you play when you add some of these two effects to them.

BSV: You were quite productive in last few months. Inspiration comes from?
DARIO SUERTE: Yes, I’ve had maybe 5 or 6 releases in the last couple of months. I mostly draw my inspiration from introspection. I enjoy daydreaming, deep conversations over wine, losing myself in music, nature, and having a positive outlook on life, so I guess I can say that I’m content with myself and my life in general. I tend to see beauty in everything and everything is inspirational to me…

BSV: How was this mix recorded?
DARIO SUERTE: During my previous years of DJ-ing I’ve experimented with various genres and styles of electronic music, but honestly I’ve always been loyal to the deeper sides of house music. So, I usually spend some of my free time to search for underground deep tech house, minimal, and deep tech tunes and do a mix session at home.

BSV: So, emotions guide you in production and mixing?
DARIO SUERTE: Yes, it’s a way of expressing my inner-self and parts of my mind and soul I can’t express with words and actions. It’s like peeking through a window and having a look at the hidden side of me.

BSV: Upcoming “Bliss” release is scheduled for @beatsoundvisions. Why BSV and where did you find us?
DARIO SUERTE: I’ve ran across your music online and had the impression that “Bliss” might work for your label just right. This is the second time I’m having my music released for a Serbian label and I’m really excited about the fact that more people in the Balkans might hear it. Fingers crossed!

Peter & Moritz, who form Thys & Taylor, have been DJing together for six years. Peter is from Belgium and lives in Frankfurt am Main since 2019, but first moved to Marburg in 2011. There he met Moritz, who in turn has lived in Marburg since he was born. When those two got to know each other and discovered their common passion for music, Moritz already was part of the collective ‘Marbylon’. Marbylon at that time was well known for its club parties and open air raves in nearby forests that Peter & Moritz helped to organize.
When the two started playing together six years ago, Peter’s first idea was to play Drum ‘n‘ Bass. But it quickly showed, that Peter & Moritz were based in Techno. Nowadays, their sound moves between House, Deep House, Tech House and Melodic Techno. Basically everything that counts as Techno and sounds great to them is included in their Dj sets.
In addition to Thys & Taylor, the two also manage the podcast site ‘Tonspuren’ (German for ‘soundtrack’). On this Soundcloud website, they present DJ sets of befriended artists from their musical network. In 2016 they took part in a DJ contest of ‘Jeden Tag ein Set’ and scored first place. They were rewarded with a gig on the main stage of the ‘Burning Beach Festival’ in Nuremberg( Germany). One year later, in 2017, they won the contest of the ‘Panama Open Air’ festival in Bonn (Germany), where they were also allowed to play on stage. According to them, they had their best gig at the ‘Aftrsun Festival’ in Belgium. The time spent in clubs and on festivals to them simply is a time to rebalance among friends and culture.

MINI-INTERVIEW

What was the intention behind your set?
"My last gigs were often at night during prime time, so I tried to play harder melodic techno around 124 bpm. As I actually come from the downtempo / lower midtempo area, this was quite new territory for me. I realized that I feel comfortable at this speed, but that the deep and spherical still has a high priority for me, just like in my slower sets in the past. Nevertheless, I would like to capture this part of my process as a DJ in the form of a set and have packed the coolest songs for me from the gigs into this podcast. As I also associate this sound with "Dit Klingt Jut", it was a perfect fit for me. In the future, such bouncy songs will continue to appear in my sets, but in a balanced mix with melodic and deep pressing passages like my current favorite release from question 3 😉"

What was your most significant club / festival moment?
"As a consumer, I would definitely say the Kerala Dust gig at Acid Bogen at the end of 2017. I queued so long withg friends in the cold to see this concert. Of course, we didn't get in right then because there were too many people. But my best friend and I made another attempt after the others had left and went straight to the bouncer. She saw how much I wanted to see this concert and was kind enough to let us in. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing and at the end of the set, everyone in the Acid Bogen had a sparkler in their hand and sang along, which I don't think I'll ever forget.

As a DJ: My performance at the Zeitlos Festival, organized on a field in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern by friends from Hamburg. I got the sunset slot, my absolute favorite time. But it’s complicated when it rains all the time. During my set, however, the sun came out for the first time this weekend. And as ordered, the dark and light passages alternated simultaneously with these in my set. When 200 people danced the choreography of Iorie's "What is Downtempo" with me in the evening’s sun red light, I had a few tears in my eyes.

Currently based in Madrid his personal sound travels across the globe creating special moments through his original music or dj sets as in a short time he has performed in clubs in Spain, Argentina, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Lebanon, Holland, Panamá , United Kingdom, Mexico, Peru or Chile. 

Yamill is in a state of creative grace, his releases on influential labels such as Sol Selectas, MoBlack, Madorasindahouse or Nulu are the best proof of it, most of them have placed themselves on the first positions of Beatport and Traxsource s Top 100 sales charts, sitting himself as one of the most interesting artists to keep an eye on during 202 1 . The Spanish ar ti st has decided to step forward in his career with the creation of his own label Pieces Of Life, with which he has released his first LP, being the label’s first reference. 

Under the title of POL Talks Yamil has reflected" something unique and different, deeper than my usual sound. A journey in which each track tells a different story but giving sense tone ensembl” he says. In fact, the idea of creating the label Pieces Of Life is motivated precisely to unleash all his creativity, without imposed restrictions or limitations by the dominant trends.
