Went away for a few days and stayed at a house in middle of nowhere, there was nothing around but cows, on the side in the house was a little information sheet about the place, the lyrics are loosely based on that.

I'd like to share some Sound Design procedures now and then, if simple enough, to give something back for your attention.

The weird overtone noises in the beginning are done as follows:
1. Create a short chord stab.
2. Put a reverb on it and make the reverb tail very long or freeze it.
3. Record the reverb signal to audio.
4. Put an EQ on the audio and automate a high Q peak across the frequencies you like.
5. Record it.
6. Reverse the Audio.
7. Repeat step 4 until you hear these overtones. (Chorus effect might add some otherworldly flavour to the sound)
8. More reverb will get you the far-away feeling of the sound.
9. Distribute audio across your song.

For Ableton Suite users, there is a simpler way to create these nasal overtones:
1. Add Echo to a track and switch Delay mode to "time".
2. Keep Delay time very short like 10 to 40 ms.
3. Set Reverb Location to "feedback".
4. Preview the sound and turn up the Reverb until you hear the nice endless feedback loop.
5. Experiment with the Feedback and Wet settings.
6. Experiment with the filter frequency and tweak the values in the Modulation tab.

This should bring you pretty close to this sound.
