Founder of Underlying Form – a community, party and, since his debut release, label – Darren Allen is a key figure in an international network of uncompromisingly underground minimal house nights; a movement whose ear has been increasingly caught these past few years by older – and harder – electro, breaks and techno sounds from the 90s.  Like his counterparts from Berlin and Brescia, London and Ljubliana (the list goes on), Darren matches his hunger for unheard and regularly eye-popping records with a scrupulous attention to detail in the mix.  This podcast for Lisbon’s Assemble Music stays true to form, eschewing the heavier stuff for a masterclass in groove, mood and sequencing, with a real jaw-dropper or two along the way.
