Roland is a DJ and promoter from Toronto, Canada.  He is a member of the Assembly crew, a collective of producers, DJ's and promoters, focused on underground house, techno, and disco.

Having grown up surrounded by music from an early age, Roland began to collect records as diverse as 80's new wave, hip hop, disco, ska and reggae. He was introduced to the sounds of house music in the late 80's which led to many late-night adventures in Toronto's budding warehouse party scene. From that, he developed a fascination with DJ Culture. This is when he first began honing his skills as a DJ. He was hooked by the incredible energy of the dancefloor. Over the past 3 decades, Roland has touched on the whole spectrum of underground music and developed his own unique and versatile style. Roland continues to move dancefloors at clubs, lounges, raves and afterhours across Toronto and beyond.

The Elane Tavern was a real place in Scarborough - out on the eastern side of Toronto. For years it was a discotheque, a meeting hub for youth, at a time that's not well known or talked about as being a part of the history of dance music culture in the city. There have been some hard working writers who have done a really good job documenting scenes and clubs, but there are still missing pieces of the puzzle. There were many other spots downtown and in the suburbs, from the time in the mid to late 70s, that have yet to get their stories told. This is an act of conjuring and imagining through the mists of time... always the question, what if...
