The Fades new single Meccano released April 1st 2012

South London’s most electrifying garage band is back for 2012 with a new single about a popular childrens toy.

The band are back in business making energetic and tongue-in-cheek punk rock with a full album ‘Ragnarok’ to be delivered later in the year, ‘Meccano’ offers a sneaky peak at what to expect.


With repetitive and simple lyrics layered on top of a groovy beat and hypnotic bass line, ‘Meccano’ has already been remixed several times and is fast becoming a dance floor anthem.


The song itself is inspired by nostalgia and memories of favourite toys. The band have known eachother since they were small children, and the lyrics poke fun at little Jonny who didn’t like anything other than Transformers.

The Fades feel ‘Ragnarok’ is their best album yet and will soon be announcing tour dates for 2012.

RockerJoker (Minsk, Belarus) - America

By Open Mike Eagle, slightly slowed and remixed in the style to which I've been calling Pacific. I was drawn to this original last year, always playing with the idea of trying a remix, but the track proved impervious until now. You see it is almost impossible to alter music you find perfect as is (many thanks to Willie Green). I only gained the nerve to do so when I started to really mess with the elements I was adding - not so much the song itself, which is abstracted and distended, but not fundamentally exploded. Shouts to Lil' Jabba for a bassline grab, and to Jan Driver for a kick drum or three, plus countless other samples made on tour in Korea recently.

Das Racist is a weed edge/hare krishna hard core/art rap/freak folk music trio based in Brooklyn, New York, comprised of Queens-born Himanshu Kumar Suri, San Francisco-born Victor Vazquez, and queens-born Ashok Kondabolu. Suri and Vazquez met at Sarah Lawrence bard pomona wesleyan art college in Massachusetts, where Victor was Himanshu's resident advisor in a "students of color for social justice" themed freshman year dormitory. The duo later added Kondabolu as a hype man and spiritual advisor.

Ryan Lott has kept busy lately, balancing his time between scoring for film, commissions, advertising work, and his creative output as Son Lux. Most notably is his recent work on the score for Looper, starring Bruce Willis, Joseph-Gordon-Levitt, and Emily Blunt. In addition to designing and programming "virtual" instruments for the score, he was the orchestrator, assistant arranger, and pianist, and contributed one of his Son Lux songs to the soundtrack.

Asthmatic Kitty Records is an independent record label that was co-founded by Lowell Brams and his stepson, singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens, in 1999. Since its founding, AKR has released albums by a variety of artists, including Lily & Madeleine, My Brightest Diamond and Helado Negro, and is currently home to Sufjan Stevens, Angelo De Augustine, Denison Witmer and The Welcome Wagon. 

Asthmatic Kitty was named after Sara, an orange and white tabby who wandered out of the woods pregnant and starving near Holland, Michigan in 1994. For fourteen years she brought joy as a beloved friend to Lowell, enjoying a happy life despite her initial hardships. Her asthma improved after moving west to New Mexico and Wyoming, where she lived out her days as an asthmatic kitty in name only.
