Almost two hours in length it navigates many favorite genres and artists represented by the Michigan based label, Ghostly International. Just look at this amazing tracklist! In 2009, Ghostly celebrated its 10 year anniversary as a label, with many shows across the globe. This year, the label is commemorating a decade of performances at Decibel Festival. The 10th Ghostly showcase at Decibel will feature live performances from Dauwd, Beacon, Lusine and Shigeto (Friday, September 27th at the Crocodile) and you know that I’ll be there all night!

Since appearing on Kittball back in 2012 Austrian duo Wild Culture have found themselves prominent members of the imprint’s tight knit family. Releases have included two original EPs titled ‘Faith’ and ‘This Moment’, remixing Tube & Berger’s seminal hit ‘Lovebreak’ plus having a host of their own work remixed earlier this year by the likes of Nico Pusch, David Jach and Purple Disco Machine.  
Returning to Kittball with another exceptional piece of original work, ‘Fade’ initiates gently before unfolding into a stunning beauty of a track. Intricate guitar plucking followed by solid kicks builds up some serious momentum, whilst emphatic piano breakdowns and glorious chords cooperate to produce a number that sounds blissful and invigorating.
In addition to the original a vocal edit incorporates Lucia’s empowering voice to add a further element of passion to the sultry summertime anthem. As well as this German producer Lexer has been tapped for remix duties, focusing more on sliding guitar riffs and melodic chimes to forge an organic and uplifting vibe befitting of the Kittball sound.

Musique de scène composée et interprétée par Andy Emler pour le spectacle RAVEL de Jean Echenoz joué au théâtre Artistic Athévains jusqu'au 31 décembre 2013.

Ici, tout évoque Ravel, et pourtant, vous ne trouverez rien de son catalogue.
Bercé par ses rythmes hispanisants, entraîné par quelque danse du passé (valse ou forlane, pavane ou rigaudon), Andy s'est plongé dans son univers liquide, de jeux d'eaux en miroirs. Nourri de ses archaïsmes orientalistes, il s'est imprégné de ses mécanismes d'horlogerie en s'appropriant ses bourdons et ses cloches.
Si Jean Echenoz fit de Maurice Ravel un personnage de roman, il fallait bien qu'Andy Emler fasse de son oeuvre une fiction : un double en musique, qui raconte lui aussi l'histoire de Ravel.

Oh Mercy - Someday (The Strokes Cover)

I first met writer, programmer, and interactive artist Erik Loyer at the 2009 Game Developer’s Conference. Alternately demo-ing NightSky and wandering the IGF show floor, I happened upon his unique short story app for the iPhone called Ruben & Lullaby. Was it a game? Was it a comic book? It certainly didn’t look or feel like anything else I had seen. Needless to say, I was impressed.
In December 2010, Erik released his newest unclassifiable work, Strange Rain. The app quickly shot to #1 on the iPad Entertainment charts and was featured on CNN and USAToday. Fast Company called it, “A glimpse at novels of the future” and IGN awarded it with an 8.5 rating and their Editor’s Choice award. Playable in three modes (story, wordless, & whisper), Strange Rain is another examination of emotional minutia. Drops of rain fall onto the screen as words and music are manipulated by the player. As with Ruben & Lullaby, Erik was responsible for the music, programming, and design himself. Toward the end of January, I received a call asking if I would be interested in composing a new interactive score for Strange Rain. I picked up my acoustic guitar started writing the music that night.

The resulting composition, “Possibility In Amnesia,” features Philip Glenn on violin, Andrew Pompey on drums and cymbals and myself on acoustic guitar. “Possibility…” is my first interactive composition and I could not have been blessed with a better collaborator. Erik and I had so many ideas bouncing back and forth that the creative and technical languages seemed indistinguishable. After the music was recorded we spent two months beta testing, tweaking, and letting our kids and spouses tell us what they thought.

The final presentation is something that feels both surprising and natural. The experience is singular and I couldn’t be more proud of it.

Amsterdam-based DJ and Producer Young Marco has been on the forefront of the city’s bustling underground scene for nearly a decade. Coming up through several now infamous residencies, he quickly gained notoriety for his genre-defying and ballsy DJ sets with a unique take on dance music, playing everything from lost proto-house and raw jaktrax to Libyan disco anthems.
 
After releasing several records on Rush Hour he soon found a home on Lovefingers’ ESP Institute where he continues to craft his signature zonked out house sound filled with broken drum computers and uncool 90’s new-age synthesizers.

Asthmatic Kitty Records is an independent record label that was co-founded by Lowell Brams and his stepson, singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens, in 1999. Since its founding, AKR has released albums by a variety of artists, including Lily & Madeleine, My Brightest Diamond and Helado Negro, and is currently home to Sufjan Stevens, Angelo De Augustine, Denison Witmer and The Welcome Wagon. 

Asthmatic Kitty was named after Sara, an orange and white tabby who wandered out of the woods pregnant and starving near Holland, Michigan in 1994. For fourteen years she brought joy as a beloved friend to Lowell, enjoying a happy life despite her initial hardships. Her asthma improved after moving west to New Mexico and Wyoming, where she lived out her days as an asthmatic kitty in name only.
