“The Magic Place was a tree on our farm,” says Louisiana-raised Brooklynite Julianna Barwick. “It was in the back pasture. It was one tree that grew up, down and around. You had to crawl in and once you were inside, it was like there were different rooms, and you could actually lay in the branches. We named it 'The Magic Place' because it really was magical—especially for a kid... and that's how I feel about my life right now—without trying to sound too hippy dippy or cosmic, this year has definitely been a magical one.”

Born in Lima and now based on Ishigaki Island, Just You and the Moon creates music woven from ocean waves, rainforest whispers, the call of the crested serpent eagle, and her own voice. Her sound is a deep connection between nature, humanity, and the moon.

Asthmatic Kitty Records is an independent record label that was co-founded by Lowell Brams and his stepson, singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens, in 1999. Since its founding, AKR has released albums by a variety of artists, including Lily & Madeleine, My Brightest Diamond and Helado Negro, and is currently home to Sufjan Stevens, Angelo De Augustine, Denison Witmer and The Welcome Wagon. 

Asthmatic Kitty was named after Sara, an orange and white tabby who wandered out of the woods pregnant and starving near Holland, Michigan in 1994. For fourteen years she brought joy as a beloved friend to Lowell, enjoying a happy life despite her initial hardships. Her asthma improved after moving west to New Mexico and Wyoming, where she lived out her days as an asthmatic kitty in name only.

Hi! Music is very important part of my life.
I am making music (all the time) from age of 14. Now I am 42 and I am stil learning new things, new techniques, production skills 
Yes I am still learning, how to make music, it could be fun.  I learned sound engineering at small school in Warsaw. 
I like this way of expression myself, trough the music. I can play several instruments. 
I liked to experminent, but I love melodies.
I use electronic instruments and computer plugins.
