Zounds! A midweek treat for the weary psychedelic travelers shackled to desks and manning the meatpacking lines. Perched on the precipice of a massive fall tour complete with a stunning new live show and a gaggle of special guests, Ott has blessed The Untz with unholy water (it stings) and a fancy new single hot off the presses and straight from the laboratory. "Baby Robot" is a lush, symphonic piece oozing with walls of cushy synths and a hypnotic beat that laps up against the ethereal vox like waves on the shore.

The B-Side "Mr. Balloon Hands" is a trippy, broken beat opus riddle with Indian raga scatting and plenty of exotic percussion to get those tired feet moving. Bouncy, buoyant, and ebullient, this cut will push you over onto the safety of the weekend whereupon Ott triumphantly returns to the great state of Colorado with a pair of shows on the 13th and 14th: first at the Mish up near Ft. Collins, and then Boulder bound on Saturday. The rest of the country need not fret, the brand new show hits cities big and small from coast to coast through the month of September and into October with Bluetech, Anomie Belle, Aligning Minds, and many more incredible acts.

Dear Friends, I'm totally psyched to be sharing this mix with you.  In the last year I've been (almost) all over the world performing, introducing people to this sound. The response has been overwhelming, and it seems like every new gig I travel to now has an even more electric atmosphere than the last. I've always been highly selective of the music I play, in an effort to define something new and distinct, and I feel now that this style is getting the recognition it deserves. 

So it's not often I do a mix, and this time I really wanted to showcase the state of the art of psychedelic tech-funk. ‘Live at Gnomelandia’ is a 60-minute mix that incorporates unreleased versions of songs from both of Ott’s studio albums, ‘Blumenkraft’ and ‘Skylon’, as well as a special unreleased gem. Listeners familiar with ‘Blumenkraft’ and ‘Skylon’, which are often categorized as downtempo or chillout, will notice their favorite tracks transformed into upbeat grooves appropriate for the dance floor.  Reflective of the Ott Live experience, ‘Live at Gnomelandia’ is a glimpse of what you can catch this summer while Ott is on tour.

Technical Touch (Part 2)

Looking through my old DAT's, I found this forgotten gem… This was made in Januray 1999. It's a remix of Atmos' classic Klein Aber Doctor done by myself and George Barker, released as Slinky Wizard vs. Green Nuns Remix….BUT this version was done after we had put down our final mix…. Simon popped round for a cuppa and did a live mix on the mixing desk. In the "olden days" before making everything inside a computer people would make their sequenced mix then put everything on a loop and make a live mix on the analogue mixing desk twisting the FX and EQ's, playing the desk like an instrument……this was a trick learnt from the days of Youth's Butterfly Studios….. Simon P., Ott and Greg Hunter were masters of this.Then you could edit it down into a few minutes. So this is Simon's live mix of our remix….its about 19 minutes long and very psychedelic! Enjoy!
