We are very proud and excited to share this special episode of our Podcast Series recorded live by Christian Duka at the lovely SONIC GARDEN gathering that happened at one of London’s most inspiring experimental music venues IKLECTIK last month 🌿

Christian is the founder of immersive art and 3D sound non-profit organisation Amoenus, a sound artist and a long-standing friend of Introspective Electronics. He previously delivered collaborative mixes for our Podcast Series as part of MARMO and Vādin and we are over the moon to finally have him release a solo journey.

In this chapter, Christian merges his signature flavour of psychedelic ambient with atmospheric dub, downtempo and heady leftfield experiments. This journey feels like a night wild with dreams. It’s droney interstellar initiation inconspicuously metamorphosing into sensual dub intertwined with deeply hypnotic wormhole loops and warm, tribal-infused rhythm sections stretching across wide spatial expanses. There is nothing left to do but listen with all your might for those moments of magic that are packed tightly across this sonic canvas ✨🔮✨

Multicast Dynamics returns to Astral Industries for AI-26, this time collaborating with Sid Hille, the German born, Finland based instrumentalist and composer. ‘Metamorphosis’ transmutes both artists’ unique styles into a synergistic blend of transportive storytelling, a delicate dance of light and dark.

Divided into two parts, ’Metamorphosis’ originates from a live performance recorded at Temppeliaukio church in Helsinki on March 2nd, 2019. The material was then edited, where Hille’s soothing keyboard work and haunting passages on the theremin, combine with processed textures and desolate sonic backdrops from Dijk. In this voyage beyond space and time, the subtle dialogue reveals new and perhaps unexpected dimensions in their creative arsenal, finding fresh new boundaries and enriching the palette of both performers. Encounters of sweet fleeting moments of lyricism emerge amidst the chilling outback, in which we're given some final consolation between the long lines of cavernous rifts and deep space tundra.

This month Hermetic Journals has a guest mix by X.Y.R. (né Vladimir Karpov, resident of Saint Petersburg). His beautiful, mysterious take on ambient music is distinguished by the unique timbres of Soviet era synthesizers and was released by such great labels as Not Not Fun, Constellation Tatsu, Quiet Time Tapes and 12th Isle. His latest album “Anciente” came out this past September on Swedish imprint Possible Motive.

For this episode of Hermetic Journals X.Y.R. explores the dark pulsations of classic and contemporary komische and ambient cuts including his evocative, compilation-only track “Hidden Cave”. Following the arrival of their debut album ‘Alterazione’, LF58 (F.Scorcucchi and G.Tillieci) are back on Astral Industries with a special trove of outer-space explorations. Recorded one evening back in April 2019 as a live performance at Rome’s Brancaleone, the eponymously titled album offers a sprawling journey across the pan-dimensional ether. Spread across six sides of vinyl, the performance includes fully improvised material as well as choice selections from Simone Giudice, Jonas Kopp, Nuel, Birds of Prey, Rapoon, Steve Roach and Adham Shaikh. There is no doubt that the unique energy and circumstances of the evening contribute to a certain atmosphere present in the music.

With seemingly no beginning nor end, the session emerges in suspension; an electric ocean of infinite deepness. Gleaming across the patter of galaxies on a wide black backdrop, its myriad vistas are projected like transitioning scenes of an unending story. The gentle tide brings with it specks of cosmic debris and mysterious signals. Soon, quiet drones are overtaken by ripples of solar flare and percussive clamours. Forms melt like liquid, a ball of amorphous plasma pulsating with ecstatic radiance. Prying open universe within universe, ‘Live at Brancaleone’ has a vastness that cannot really be contained.

It’s a pleasure to pick up our podcast series again with one of the most peaceful and elegant mixes we’ve ever hosted on TSS. Our ears go to Sydney - Australia, where Dan and Gary have started the phenomenal Low End Theorists platform, and its recordlabel Theory Therapy. From there they are hosting music that we’ve fell in love with many of times and that’s why we are very honoured that Dan mixed an hour of his favourites for us, under his known moniker Patrin.

"For me, this mix is one of the more emotional directions I've taken lately. I've really enjoyed selecting certain tracks based on strong feelings or moods in recent times, and having the chance to record something personal has been so rewarding and revitalising. Much like the many ups and downs of the last few months locked down inside, it was super nice to strike a balance between the sadness, joy, calmness, and everything in between. Huge love to all the artists featured for the endless inspiration."

Bio:

Michihiro’s from Morioka city in Iwate and now living Uenohara city in Yamanashi. Active as a DJ since 1996 in Morioka. As the organizer of 'aquart', his themes center around transformation of heart and body led by sound. His mixing style known as simple yet smooth, using subtle Ambient / Electronica / Downtempo / Techno sound sources, pulsating each note.In 2009, Michihiro graduated from the YogaJaya International Teacher Training at the YJA300 level, And he had taught Hatha Yoga at YogaJaya for six years from 2009 to 2015. And also he have teaching experience more than 1000 hours and he is now a Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher 200E-RYT and YACEP with the Yoga Alliance,and now he organizes "un." that aims the life to connect and harmonize the nature and the human.

Flexagon is a Guernsey-based sound mangler and musical instrument collector. He is also an experienced DJ, music producer, sound engineer and composer. As a DJ he is known for playing long eclectic and psychedelic sets spanning multiple genres, equally at home playing ambient and chillout as he is with dancefloor-friendly music.
Flexagon’s own music productions are increasingly esoteric and wide-ranging. Recent musical compositions have moved well away from four to the floor material towards the ambient and downtempo realms. Along with this has come the opportunity to compose for orchestral instruments. His first piece for nine string players, piano and found sound backing recording had its premiere performance in October 2018.
The new album, 7 Nocturnes East, is due out 24.1.2020.
7 Nocturnes East will have an accompanying visual and video art exhibition featuring the work of seven artists. At The Greenhouse, Guernsey Museum, Candie Gardens, Guernsey - more info soon.
