ASIP - Reflection on 2021

The 5th element known as space or aether is the material that fills the region of the universe beyond the terrestrial sphere. Integrating experimental techno, actual samples from deep space radioscopy (specifically recordings of pulsars), and spoken words by Dr. Frank Drake (a senior scientist with the SETI Institute).  While Project Phoenix scanned about 1,000 stars all within 200 light years, the distance away from Earth makes the travel even further to Proxima Centauri, Ophiuchi and Omega Nebula.

About:

Bålsam is one of the many musical projects from Anthony Asher - Yates and also one of his more personal projects. “Iʼve always used the music that I make as a means of expression. Almost like Iʼm  painting a picture of the places that iʼve been.. Like an emotion or a feeling I had in 
that moment. So I try to capture that memory the best I can by recording the  sounds of these places in nature that inspire me so much. I want these songs to  be as organic as possible and feel as free flowing as the rivers and streams… so  often times I will began with the field recordings and see where they take me.  This mix was meant to bring us down to the Earth and ground us. I have made my  second home In South America and now I am longing for the landscapes and 
beauty that I feel when I am there”

As with all of my ‘Reflection’ year-end mixes, I start with a long list of albums I have enjoyed over the year. Often hundreds. Through the process of putting a mix together that flows well, the songs are whittled down and selected from each album. This means many of my favorite tracks are often omitted in the process (even favorite tracks from a favorite album). But as I say every year, this isn’t a definitive ‘best-of’ list, but an organic selection of some of my favorite music from the year in a listenable format - it’s the most enjoyable way for me to boil down music I’ve loved from the year using these self-imposed restrictions. Campfire Stories 85 (Cloudwalker) by Warmth

Christian Samsara is a Danish-born DJ and record collector.
His journey into electronic music began back in his early teenagehood and after a few years, he discovered the electronic ambient genre which grew into his big passion and later on, lead him behind the decks.
Since the beginning of his DJ carreer, he performed at a great number of festivals and events accross the world and of course in his homeland, Denmark.
Inspired by the nature and isolated places, his mixes are often a selection of ambient / downtempo / IDM music with deep cinematic soundscapes and layers of organic textures.
He joins Ultimae Records in 2015 and is currently selecting works for an upcoming compilation release.
