Andy Stott - The Beginning

London musician @shek-o –aka Matt Scowcroft– studied at Durham University, specialising in electroacoustic composition and sound design. Although he has been producing music for more than a decade, his release for Lapsus marks his first artist album, perhaps surprising considering the overriding maturity and precision found in his output.

His debut entitled ‘Bancha' was produced throughout 2020 and skilfully demonstrates his affinity for improvisation and modular systems. The 10-track album was predominantly created from longer original compositions that have been meticulously warped and modified, resulting in an innovative and unique body of work.

Although Shek O operates in essentially ambient terrains, the British artist’s influences are wide-ranging. His overall sound bucks convention, with ‘Bancha' incorporating elements of IDM, glitch, deconstructed dub-techno and psychedelic experimental electronica, to form music without complexes or clichés.

‘Bancha' will be released mid-April 2021 on cassette (limited to 50 copies) and all digital formats.

Dusk Delay: A new label set up by Lord Of The Isles. Inspired by the long summer nights of the northern hemisphere. Known as the ‘Gloamin’ in old Scots language. When the edges blur and colours become a white pink haze, the possibilities can seem endless. Melancholic thoughts of the past inspire optimism for the future. The unexpected is expected between sunset and the fall of night.

The first expansive motif laid down for the new Dusk Delay imprint is the Geoglyph EP by Lord Of The Isles himself. Clocking in at 39 mins across 5 tracks; It expertly fuses rare vintage instruments and effects with ultra-modern production techniques. Side A sees state of the art sequencers lead the antique machines on a merry dance through dub techno excursions and ambient jungle soundscapes. Side B utilises a more traditional approach, however, the results are no less beautiful or otherworldly. The creative inspiration here is the same - vintage meets modern - but this time it’s created using live improvisations woven into coherent arrangements to terraform a similar fictional landscape of sound that belongs to the same galaxy as side A. 

Available in all formats 26 April 2021 – includes a limited-edition marble vinyl release with postcard.

Exclusive: Perdu - Retrograde Mercury

With releases on DGTL, Heist or Optimo Amsterdam artist Perdu makes his debut on infamous imprint Live At Robert Johnson with a four tracker that's as soaring as a flight just how the EP title suggests. Known for his preference of creating intriguing melodies Perdu follows this pattern or approach again with his Soaring Flight EP. However, it's the A2, Retrograde Mercury, that attracts all the attention: bleepy partly Acid-ish chords, a slightly percussion influenced bassline and the aforementioned magnificent catchy lead-melody make the track everything else but sound retro but rather heralding some beauty for the future.

Perdu's EP Soaring Flight will be released on Live At Robert Johnson on April 16th, 2021.

Took a bit of a break from demos and releases after extending the family with a cute little boy, but now we’re back with some of the best deep techno and house lined up for you! But first, something completely different.
Michele Mininni hails from the south of Italy and counts everything from post- and krautrock over new wave, house and disco amongst his influences. He’s been a DJ for years, but only recently released his debut EP on Optimo Trax in Glasgow. He immediately found himself on the playlists of Beats In Space and Rinse FM. We were literally blown away when he sent us his music and didn’t hesitate to release it although it’s not what you’re used to hear from us. It’s hard to describe ‘Endless Ceremony’. Epic, but not as you know it. Cosmic, definitely.
For the remix we thought of Rocketnumbernine. Two brothers with releases on Soul Jazz, Four Tet’s Text label and more recently an album on Smalltown Supersound. Currently touring with James Holden and  Neneh Cherry. Their remix could be described as almost dreamy electronica/idm.
We think this is a really special release. The following people already agree: Gavin Russom, Âme, Ripperton, A Made Up Sound, James Holden, Optimo, Deadbeat, Tim Sweeney, Locked Groove… First pressing on coloured vinyl!

Each composition is a seamless blend of synthetic and organic sounds, influenced by her connection to nature, creating an evocative experience that resonates with themes of ecological awareness and modern technology’s role in artistic expression.

Featuring rhythmic chanting and layered vocal samples that invoke a sense of ritual and deep introspection, washes of abstract sounds manipulated from the recordings of wolves, and mystical sounds straight from nature’s own. The EPs tracks highlight swanasa's exploration of sound as a symbolic language, inviting listeners into a world where the lines between reality and imagination blur.

swanasa's music is brought to life through her live performances, where Mirror EP and her previous material form the foundation for dynamic, meditative sets. Having performed alongside artists such as Abul Mogard, swanasa’s live shows emphasize deep listening and immersive sound environments, drawing audiences into her unique sonic world.

Mirror EP will be released on November 22nd, 2024, available as a digital download, mastered by Rafael Anton Irisarri @ Black Knoll Studio, New York. The artwork, an original texture created by Zsuzsi Palman, continues the theme from Abigél’s first EP.

A Strangely Isolated Place presents a long-lost collaboration between Polish artists Olga Wojciechowska and Tomasz Walkiewicz as Monoparts—a partnership formed many years ago that resulted in an album once destined to remain unreleased.

Olga Wojciechowska, known for her modern-classical masterpieces such as Infinite Distances (2019) and Unseen Traces (2020), as well as her 2022 collaboration with Scanner, breaks all known expectations with Soothsayers. In a dramatic departure, Olga unveils a new and unexpected side, debuting her haunting vocals—a delicate, spellbinding performance that recalls the golden era of trip-hop, and comparisons to the sounds pioneered by Tricky, Massive Attack, and Martina Topley-Bird.

With Tomasz adding layers of depth through intricate beats and electronics, Olga’s voice becomes the emotional core of the record, conjuring an intimate and nostalgic atmosphere.

Following https://soundcloud.com/mikkel-rev's debut album on the label in 2023, ‘The Art Of Levitation’, the Norwegian artist returns with Journey Beyond, a selection of tracks demonstrating his innate ability to conjure the most atmospheric trance music, irrespective of BPM.

Journey Beyond was created from an extensive set of tracks sent to the label that were initially sequenced as two shorter EPs. With the first offering a slower 80bpm trance style, and the second EP, a classic ~130bpm trance style. However, over time, with tracks swapping in and out, ASIP had the idea to create a mixed version, progressing through the tracks and increasing bpm's, showcasing Mikkel’s ability in bridging euphoric worlds - and a style that is often reserved for Mikkel’s live performances amongst the forest raves held as part of the Ute Collective in Norway.

Classic trance and the art of a DJ mix have been influential to ASIP since the label’s inception, making this release and the process of creating it a true reflection of how Mikkel and the label come together to define the end output.

DJ GIRL’s latest EP on Planet Euphorique “Slsk Trax” shows us how it’s done with four head-turning techno-transanthems, bass bins bursting at the seams with fast & furious innovative aural onslaught. The Chicago based producer offering no zoom, main room, (more than) four to the floor visceral punishment of the highest pleasures. 

Immediate assault in the form of A1; “And the Crowd Howls” unstoppable rapid, rhythmic voltage racing through your veins, pulsating like the most dramatic, dark dancefloors should. New school kosmiche style guitar and synth studies by Baltimore native and veteran underground music figure Tarotplane (PJ Dorsey). Across four cold, motorik movements Dorsey builds upon previous outings for Aguirre, Lullabies For Insomniacs and VG+ on the discs A side, combining trademark lysergic keyboard swirls with a heavier rhythmic approach than usual. On the B, he delivers an extended swan song for 12th Isle's single figure catalog and aims his guitar towards the heart of the sun, kick-starting the labels busiest year to date.
