Mit viel Ambition startete Microsoft das Spaziergang-AR-Spiel Minecraft Earth, das Pokémon Go hätte vom Thron stoßen können: Microsoft schickte die Spieler nach dem großen Vorbild auf die Straßen, um Bauklötzchen zu finden, die dann dauerhaft digital an realen Orten aufgebaut und entdeckt werden können.

Eigentlich ein cleveres Konzept, sich einer neuen Grundlagentechnologie, der AR-Cloud, spielerisch zu nähern - ähnlich macht es Pokémon Go. Doch nach einigen Millionen Downloads und rund zwei Jahren zieht Microsoft Minecraft Earth im Sommer 2021 den Stecker. Woran liegt's?
