DÔME ushers in the summer season with a brand new EP, spotlighting breakthrough artists from western France who'll be lighting up the Astropolis 2025 lineup this July. Opening this seasonal chapter, the release channels the spirit of a black mass — heavy, immersive, and emotionally charged. The EP brings together the tectonic doom-techno of Brest-based Skomaager, the poetic EBM of Nantes’ Mensonges-sur-Loire, the hypnotic techno of Angers’ Armando 360, and the luminous ascents of fellow Nantais, Kamen.
The record kicks off with Skomaager — a shadowy, anonymous project forged deep in the granite heart of central French Brittany. Raw, monolithic and uncompromising, Skomaager melds martial techno rhythms with doom’s abrasive textures and industrial's suffocating atmosphere. ‘Never Enough’ is a slow-burning pressure cooker, capturing the restless hunt for sensation and the dark spiral it can provoke. It all culminates in a cathartic explosion.
Next up: Mensonges-sur-Loire with ‘Nantes Is The Best City of the World’, a venomous love letter born from a drawn-out, sleepless night and a burning urge to reconnect with their hometown stage. Part haunted football chant, part EBM reverie, the track blurs acidic spoken word à la Femminielli or Marie Davidson with punchy electro and ghostly, poetic EBM. Endearing and ambiguous in equal measure.
Known for his IDM-leaning output, Armando 360 dives deeper into immersive, mind-altering techno without sacrificing sonic finesse. Now signed to respected label ARTS, he offers up ‘02I30’, a track shaped by hours on the floor at Brussels’ Fuse and echoing the precision of Yan Cook, DJ Nobu, or Oscar Mulero. It’s cyclical, trance-tinged techno that unfolds like a sensory vortex — tailor-made for total surrender.
Closing out the EP is Kamen — one half of Crime Partners, OSS Records co-founder, with past releases on Skryptöm and Fever Recordings. ‘Audio Sunrise’ is a delicate, hovering piece: a chiaroscuro techno cut that rises slowly like a foggy dawn, gradually revealing glimmers of light. Subtly euphoric and elegantly constructed, it’s a track to lose yourself in as the night dissolves into day.
