Alexandria-based hip-hop musician Medrex delivered introspective lyrics atop melodic production, echoing Travis Scott and Post Malone. Reflecting a wide range of stylistic influences, he blended R&B instrumentation, dreamy beats, and even indie rock melodicism into a heady, emotional and unique style.

Born Ahmed Tarek in 1998, the Egyptain artist grew up listening to multiple genres of music, turning to rap freestyling in high school. Influenced by trap music and Chicago drill from Lil Durk and Chief Keef, Tarek came up with the name Medrex by mixing the last 3 letters of his first and second name and replacing the (k) with (x).

Medrex is known for his melodic flow and his unique vocal style in both Arabic and English. In 2019, Medrex released his first single, Unexpected , a new approach at spreading the Hip Hop culture in the Middle East.
