So, music is a really difficult subject for me. While I‘ve been making it one way or another since I was a child, there have always been dominant people in my life trying to strongly push me into doing what they envision, what they think is good music. This is true for other forms of art as well but in my case mostly about music.

I guess this is why I never really released anything (I did perform tho lol) and also don’t feel happy to listen to my old music. I only hear myself in there partially.

So, over time I very slowly made friends with my occasionally quite odd ears. And managed to find a place where I can touch upon something beyond justification or comparison - it’s fleeting still, I don’t always have it.

This piece was recorded in a single sitting last december and while playing I started crying and I couldn’t stop for quite some time even after I had finished. More composed, less rambly (and also happier/funnier) pieces are coming but this one is really special to me because in playing I managed to open the floodgates and find a place to resonate with my own being, my pain and my joy, far beyond needing to be or do anything other than the music I was touching and being into existence right then and there.

"The Neo-Folk-Lore performance night serves as an extension of the exhibition, showcasing a variety of experimental sound performances relating to the core childhood experience characterized by the imaginative, unrealistic yet familiar twists and protagonists of folktales. These stories, once spread by word of mouth, are imbued with ancient symbols that can be interpreted regardless of cultures and ages, and have survived due to their constant change. By the creative process of fabrication, physical distance is destroyed and signs lead through learning and spiritual cognition to the collective consciousness, the source of the tales. The question is how we can find our way back to these archaic elements and how the concept of folk tradition can be shaped with the experiences we have gained since then. The exhibiting artists propose a new definition independent of party politics, which enables the shaping of a flexible and personal national identity. The symbols we can perceive come to life both in cyber and real space, allowing the creators to weave their own myth along the artworks."

NEO-FOLK-LORE PERFORMANCE NIGHT

Following a little break, JEL is back with its original goal: to showcase a palette of Hungarian outsider artists from various fields of Electronic music.
This time, the guest of the show is the astonishigly productive and super creative Mt. Saint Michel.

Mt. Saint Michel is about healing and giving hope to others in need. Creating art to have someone experience what the true emotions behind his projects are. Mixing together the lonely sounds of a city at night with the intense, unrelenting rush of everyday life creates a state of mind where the only goal is to get a grasp of reality, and take control of it. The idea behind his art is to create something that is true to his view on life, which means gaining hope from hopelessness. 
In this mix he is showcasing his main inspirations through the sounds of underground hungarian artists. 

“For me, having the opportunity to include my friends means the most, because im incredibly grateful for everything they helped me with. Having such friends in my life is something I will never forget. Thank you."

WA?STE is the moniker of Felix Idle--producer, artist & Valley Spirit Recordings label head, based out of Melbourne, Australia. He makes music that characterizes both the curiosity and content fatigue stemming from long hours online. He rips the euphoric guts from trance, gabba & other hard dance genres, re-integrating it into slower but no less ambitious instrumentals. This aggressive eclecticism forms a bed for his saccharine vocal melodies & gently blurred-out lyricism. He has supported M.E.S.H., Air Max 97, Lone, Holly Herndon and Eternal Dragonz' V Kim, as well as having collaborated with Mya Gomez and Ptwiggs on newer productions. 

Hollow Vessel is his first release under this current moniker. The title refers to the feeling of being an observer to events in one's own life, of acquiescing to fate.
