Squarehead is the latest young producer to sparkle on Shabby Doll, with his “Bats & Stuff” EP delivering yet more bump and wallop for the discerning house head. Otherwise known as Oliver Ledger, Squarehead is possessed of a precocious talent – his debut “Keep It Moving” EP on Bad Taste was a Juno Download number one, while his records have won hard-earned airplay on Radio One thanks to supporters like Toddla T and Skream – and with DJ appearances across Europe plus his own 5ANDSEVEN label, he's right at the heart of Sheffield's current underground scene.

Squarehead's latest is a collection of crisp house tracks that crackle with a twitching percussive energy and exert a warm bass embrace; titled “Bats and Stuff”, the release features five new tunes built for the dancefloor, including remixes by Shabby Doll fellow travellers Jack Fell Down and Francois Le Roy & Nanni.

The New Jersey master's 1999 homage to dawn's early light has been given a re-outing on the French trio's lauded imprint (@apolloniamusic).

Classic Chandler in every sense, robust 4/4s thump under muffled shuffling hi-hats, a viscous bassline and soft airy chords, while Kerri's own supple vocals are surprisingly dulcet.

With Delano Smith on the remix with some lovely deepness, this forgotten gem is about to be remembered.

Revered production duo Italoboyz are to kick off their 2014 with the release of a two-track, stellar EP 'La Ondasa’, also featuring bonus remixes from G Man and Nicone & Sascha Braemer on Davide Squillace’s infamous This and That label.
With hard-edged techno rhythms, chopped vocals and bags full of dance floor groove, 'Afrodite' rolls along at electric pace. Intermittent synth line running throughout. Precision-engineered and purpose built for the clubs, these are another tracks that should earmark Italoboyz as go-to names for the best in slick, tech-house club sounds.
Since arriving in London at the beginning of the new millennium, Italoboyz, aka Marco Donato and Federico Marton, have become an essential fixture of the capital’s passionate house/techno/minimal scene. This and That Lab is a think tank, created and curated by Davide Squillace that combines music, art and culture and blends them all in one, a label that acts as a platform for Davide and other like minded artists to develop creative projects. After a series of collaborations, Marc Houle presents his first solo EP on Items & Things since 2012 - "Fusion Pop", a four track EP with two original cuts and two remixes: one from Magda, the other from label artist & friend NYMA.

True to Items & Things form, "Fusion Pop" acts as an amalgamation of warped sound - haunting synth lines, jagged bass-lines, eerie vocals and bouncing leads feed the sonic landscape for the 115BPM title track. On the flip, the acid-infused overtones of "Hello Friend" paint an equally eerie scene. As the distorted repetitions of the male vocal mantra drift off into the ether, steady hats hold the reverberating groove: part Carpenter soundtrack, part twisted after-party anthem.

Magda turns the focus of the A-side towards the club, her "Lost in Mezcal Mix" upping the tempo and thickening the groove whilst maintaining the experimentation of the original: an ode to the extremities of the inebriation from which the mix derives its title. NYMA’s "Confusion Mix" fuses elements from the two originals into his own interpretation, rounding off proceedings with an ode to the two slices of dance floor eccentricity that precede it.
