There are three Persian instruments in this track: the Divan, the Bass Divan, and the Bass Fretless Setar. The last one was invented by me, and you can hear it during the solo sections.

“Fingerpaint is a minimalist, solo setar album that introduces a new personal and innovative technique I have developed. While the album consists of 35 tracks, it is, in essence, a single cohesive composition. This modern work draws inspiration from traditional Iranian music, particularly the radif system, and reinterprets it through a contemporary lens.

Each track is named after a specific gushé (mode) of Iranian music. Some pieces directly reflect the melodic characteristics of their corresponding gushé, others are connected rhythmically, and some are conceptually inspired by the original modal structures. The album is a journey through the intersections of tradition and innovation, offering listeners a fresh perspective on the expressive possibilities of the setar.”
