Bulgarian-born DJ and emerging producer ATANAS has always been drawn to the deeper pulse of electronic music—a passion that first took root in his hometown of Plovdiv and later flourished in Washington, D.C., where his DJ career began. Known in the local scene for his instinctive sense of flow and his ability to craft hypnotic, groove-driven sets, ATANAS quickly earned a reputation in D.C.’s late-night circuit for connecting the dots between tech house and minimal.
In 2012, ATANAS reached an early milestone with the release of his first-ever remix, produced alongside DJ Lion: a rework of “It’s Like That” by Zenbi & Cyberx on Oscar L’s Shinshy Records. The track climbed to #13 on Traxsource and was supported by respected artists including Mark Knight, Paco Osuna, Oscar L, Richie Santana, Siwell, Ivan Pica, Sergio Fernandez, Paco Maroto, Simone Vitullo, Carlos Manaca, Hollen, and Del Horno—a strong debut that hinted at a promising future in production.
However, in 2013, just as his momentum was building, ATANAS made the decision to step away from music entirely to become a full-time father. For over a decade, the decks stayed silent—but the love for music never left. During this time, his connection to the scene evolved privately, as he stayed tuned in to the underground while focusing on personal growth and family life.
While working a regular day job during this period, ATANAS had unexpected opportunities to connect with key figures in the global music industry. He met the manager of Carl Cox who is a notable figure in the evolution of electronic music culture, as well as Pete Gleadall—the legendary producer and sound engineer whose extensive client list includes Madonna, David Bowie, George Michael, Rammstein, Kylie Minogue, and Carl Cox.
In 2025, ATANAS returned to the studio with a renewed sense of purpose and became certified by Toolroom Academy, where he further honed his production skills. During the course, he began work on a track that caught the attention of Pete Gleadall himself. Impressed by what he heard, Gleadall agreed to mix and master the record personally—a pivotal moment that not only validated ATANAS’s creative instincts but also bridged his comeback with one of the industry’s most respected technical minds.
Today, ATANAS channels his lived experience into a mature and focused sound rooted in tech house and minimal. His productions explore stripped-back grooves, moody atmospheres, and subtle rhythmic detail—designed for immersive, late-night dance floors that prioritise feeling over flash.
