This month we welcome Tokyo-based electronic sound artist and lyricist, Yumi Iwaki.

Yumi is an extraordinary talent, who layers her voice, acoustic instruments, field recordings, modular synthesisers, and small synthesisers, as if travelling through an imagined landscape.

Her mix takes us through a selection of music she likes to listen to when she wants to relax, but at the same time add something spicy. The flow of sounds take her to different places while in a daze.

For the 22nd edisode in our growing Elevate.Berlin mix series, we're delighted to welcome one of our favourite DJ, producer and label bosses coming out of the land of the rising sun. Tokyo's @yoshi-horino and his @unknown-season imprint have become synonymous with raw, soulful and understated house music. He began DJing in 1991 and has seen the global rise of House music ever unfolding throughout Japan and further afield across the globe while his label was launched in 2010 and has since gone on to release material from many reputed figures in the contemporary House scene. New episode of Mellow Madness and I’m honored to welcome Sean P for the second part of the show with a very special Japanese fusion selection!

London-based DJ, sound engineer, and former record dealer at the iconic Music & Video Exchange, Sean P is also a renowned disco and dance music connoisseur. He’s behind the curation of numerous killer compilations on labels like Z Records, BBE, and Claremont 56 — including Under The Influence, Soul of Disco, and Supafunkanova — and has collaborated with Backatcha (big up!) and many other great labels through remixing, editing, remastering, and mixing tracks.
An avid vinyl collector and deeply respected DJ (one of the best to me), Sean P’s selections are always deep, and sharp — spanning jazz funk, soul, disco, and everything in between.
We had the pleasure of inviting him to Easter Sounds Festival in Paris back in 2018 — and what a party that was!

The first hour of the show is dedicated to my dear friend and brother Lotfi, who left us just a few days ago. Expect an all-killer-no-filler selection to celebrate love and life — just like he did. A mix of deep and joyful tracks that reflect his beautiful soul, featuring Roy Ayers, Yambu, Luther Vandross, Brainstorm, Davina, Peven Everett, and many more.

Live from Neukölln: Richard Zepezauer will close out the day!

“Bulldozers From The n s y d e” is a radiophonic project by Berlin-based artist Richard Zepezauer (RZ-1), navigating the peripheries of sonic knowledge and intuition. As founder of the genre-fluid n s y d e imprint, Zepezauer’s practice spans club culture and contemporary sound art. His work has been presented in seminal contexts such as Berghain, Tresor, and Concrete Paris, and extends into interdisciplinary collaborations—including the Sun Ra Reel to Reel Sessions with Mike Huckaby and a Wagnerian opera intervention with the Berlin Academy of Arts. Renowned for sculpting unpredictable, immersive soundscapes, his sets traverse from raw house dialects to ambient abstraction, opening space for new sonic imaginaries.

Athanasia is an A&R, multidisciplinary artist, author, sound designer, music producer and DJ whose passion for music drives her genre‑fluid work. 
DJing is a form of art for her and a way to express her neurodivergent self. 

She began DJing in her hometown in Greece in the late 1980s and continued in Athens through the 1990s while studying Fine Arts and Photography. In the early 2000s she relocated to London to study audio engineering and sound design and performed at clubs including Ministry of Sound, AKA/The End and many more...

Athanasia has held A&R roles at major and independent labels such as Defected Records, contributing to projects for Strictly Rhythm, Movin’ Records, Fourth Floor and Sub‑Urban. 
Music curation, music‑tech training, production and sound‑design credits include work for Apple, Ogilvy and events such as Berlin Fashion Week.

Her expertise spans a broad spectrum of musical styles, from jazz to techno, allowing her to curate and produce diverse sonic landscapes with ease.
