In 2020 to escape the pandemic in the USA, I took my husband and baby to Northern Greece where I grew up. In the most unlikely of circumstances, in the middle of this forest where we stayed, I caught the Covid-19 virus and spent a month in hospital and then in isolation unable to be with my 2-year-old son. At best, I could only see him through the glass that separated us. It was heartbreaking. This is the song I wrote… My love and healing thoughts go to all victims of this pandemic.

I Dream Of Shorty

Days Awake has a few meanings for me, all which seem to contradict each other. On one plane there is a great joy, music has really offered me a new lease on life, and Days Awake was the first time I realised I could actually write a song. But on the other hand, it hangs heavy on me. It's a reminder of how dark things really got, whether that was with the medication, chronic pain or manic depression, it's a time I'm often longing to forget. I didn’t expect people to be able to relate to the song, but suffering seems to be universal and everyone has got their story to tell.
