Dhar Ubarran is a poem about the war at Anoual exactly a hundred years ago where decolonial leader Abdelkrim El Khattabi won a battle against the Spanish occupying the Rif. Oral history brought through poetics and music still tell the stories, shape and keep the collective memory alive. Belonging to orality, the text is therefore anonymous, it is a collective symbolic good, the ego is effaced in the interest of the community. The songs in this mixtape are based on Dhar Ubarran and other izran and are about history, faith, belonging, nostalgia, struggle, migration… of Arif and the Irifiyen worldwide.
