Come The Spring

DISTANT STORM
For three guitars

Having released my new album “Short Tales” last week packed with music for three acoustic guitars, this new piece could easily fit in that collection. 

Like the title suggests, this piece a brooding, mysterious sounding piece with some moments of release from tension. 

The lead guitar regularly escapes with improvised parts. In the accompaniment I use some typical flamenco percussive playing and tapped sounds to accent both rhythm and transitions. As usual my music uses different influences, however the influence of the guitar trio (DiMeola, De Lucia, McLaughlin) is apparent.

Hi, I'm Chris and I am a research scientist by day and a songwriter in my spare time. I joined SC in 2013 and I mainly record acoustic guitar and vocal harmonies, but also like playing electric guitar, bass, keyboards and using drum loops.

My musical influences include Syd Barrett, Neil Young, Peter Gabriel and Paul Simon, and increasingly fellow SoundClouders; My favourite bands include Yes, Supertramp, Pink Floyd, Rush and Steely Dan, and I also listen a lot to The Beatles, Elton John, The Who, Van Morrison, Genesis, King Crimson,  Jethro Tull, Sparks, Stevie Wonder, The Grateful Dead to name but a few...
