Shift Mawelele is Cape a Town based DJ, deep music curator and member of the DeeTo sessions movement. A good taste of what the Cape Town underground has to offer.

ATOM 001 Session - Mikey [IAS]

Our next instalment comes courtesy of Pretoria-based artist Kat La Kat, 
a South African underground music legend. Showcasing his incredible depth of musical knowledge and renowned mixing skills, Kat has created an hour long journey that takes the listener through a wide range of feeling and atmosphere.
The mix starts off with a steady rhythm and echoing effects held together by sparse percussion, before Kat picks up the energy with signature ease, as stuttering claps swirl over dramatic synths and rousing basslines.

IAS #52 mixed by Mvelo - A continuation of our series focusing on local South African underground artists.Originally from Durban, Mvelo is now based in Joburg where he has been active in contributing to the vibrancy of the deep house and techno movements. A purveyor of all things deep, Mvelo's sound is best characterised as deep and ambient with solid basslines and minimal tech infused undertones.This crisp mix of deep and dub grooves resonates with the overall sonic narrative we wish to share with our listeners at Intrinsic Audio Sessions.

"It was already a really overwhelming, but also exhausting, week for me at my first Burning Man. Then there was this Friday night. From the moment I started playing I felt so good and watching all those tiny lights on people's bikes heading towards the bus, it looked so beautiful. After my set I had so much energy that I stayed and danced on the bus for at least 12 more hours. This was a very special experience and that bus is definitely one of the coolest things I've ever played on, and I'm more than happy that I had a little role in this whole adventure.
