Longtime friend of the label, Amsterdam based Human Space Machine (@humanspacemachine), who has released on the likes of prolific Dutch labels @delichting & @nousklaeraudio, as well as re:st and nowhwere, presents an amazing mix in his signature style of driving, psychedelic techno. 

With both DJ'ing and production output alike, Mike's name has been popping up increasingly everywhere in the last couple of years, and his productions span from 4x4 trippy, groovy techno, to intricate & otherworldly half-speed gems. This mix comes amidst the beginning of his Australia tour :)

Animix One Hundred & SIxty Nine: Human Space Machine

Today, we welcome City Pop into the world -  a complementary addition to Mara’s acclaimed album At Every Corner and the first release on Pure Space for 2025.

Created from field recordings gathered during her travels in Java and Bali in late 2024, Mara was hopeful to capture the vibrant street music woven into the fabric of daily life. Yet, as she listened back, these melodies were constantly overwhelmed by the relentless sounds of traffic, construction, and machinery.

In City Pop, Mara leans into this sonic tension, amplifying the distortion and layering to craft a reflective assemblage. The piece questions what is lost beneath the din: what culture, what knowledge, what landscapes erode under the veneer of progress? City Pop is an exploration of the duality between sound and silence, tradition and change.

Legendary Irish producer @o-utlier puts forth a mind-bending array of leftfield techno in its purest state for his Animalia EP, Biome. Known for otherworldly soundscaping that threads through his productions, live-act and DJ sets, o.utlier’s expansive style draws on motifs like atmospheric drone, atypical percussion and mesmerising field recordings. He continues hypnotising with Biome - from the glimmers of acid and kicks in ‘Ionic’ to the winding brood of ‘Crop Rotation’. Deep and evocative, this release epitomises what I’ve long admired about o.utlier’s work - a level of craft guaranteed to blow and broaden the sonic imagination.

I was so nervous yet so excited. My favorite club, favorite booth, favorite sound system. So much responsibility. But i was ready. If not for the perfect set then for the best time at least. I was told to sleep before my set (13:30), it would be the smart move, but i stayed up. I wanted to enjoy the whole night like i was doing it for so many nights before. But could i trust my skill at this hour? Being 30 hours awake? 

I fucked up many times, now that i have the recording. But i also not fuck up many times. I felt the room was there with me, my friends were there with me. The memory is stronger than the recording. I can still taste that sweet&sour gummy i got, or the beer someone brought me. I can still hear the screams in exact places in the songs and i can remember handing out records for people to cop the tracks. 

I played in Ankali's Planeta Za. My haven for past 2 year or so. I'm super happy and proud and honored and thankful and I just want to go back to that booth again to fuck up little less this time :)

Mysterious French producer Souzo takes over useless seconds’ second release with ‘The Other Side’, 5 beautiful originals full of attractive deepness, comforting analogue warmth, and seductive tones for the explorers of the mind.

The drexciyan grooves of ‘A175-4 Levit8’ and the pressure-inducing ‘Don’s Eternal Drift’ set the release’s mood and show Souzo’s delicate taste for sharp, icy transients and round, mellow subs. We just stepped through the gate. Following up is ‘Haze Modulator’, one of those tools you feel like never fading out with a perfect balance between cycles of coercive dancefloor energy and drop-out momentum.

‘Octotiger’ and ‘Overloaded Bucket’ open new corridors and make up the last chapter of the EP where Souzo showcases its interpretation of the drum & bass plus techno cross-bred genre, where rolling hi-hat loops and stomping syncopated kicks provide an anchor to his signature, ethereals and sustained textures.
