The Stanford marshmallow experiment was a study on delayed gratification in 1972 led by psychologist Walter Mischel, a professor at Stanford University. In this study, a child was offered a choice between one small but immediate reward, or two small rewards if they waited for a period of time. During this time, the researcher left the child in a room with a single marshmallow for about 15 minutes and then returned. If they did not eat the marshmallow, the reward was either another marshmallow or pretzel stick, depending on the child's preference.

Atomal, DJ based in Bratislava, Slovakia, and the guy behind Grão. After more than 15 years of being driven by infinite inspiration from all shades of music, he decided to use all this experience to create a new, totally free persona. 

Leaving all labels and genres behind and focusing only on the freedom of expression, he started his own club night called AMEN - "a journey through a holy fairyland". Atomal wants you to dance with your eyes closed, layering some sensual spices, looping percussions, anything and everything acid, and never leaving the bass out of the picture. Every set is about being curious and open to being surprised.

I was so nervous yet so excited. My favorite club, favorite booth, favorite sound system. So much responsibility. But i was ready. If not for the perfect set then for the best time at least. I was told to sleep before my set (13:30), it would be the smart move, but i stayed up. I wanted to enjoy the whole night like i was doing it for so many nights before. But could i trust my skill at this hour? Being 30 hours awake? 

I fucked up many times, now that i have the recording. But i also not fuck up many times. I felt the room was there with me, my friends were there with me. The memory is stronger than the recording. I can still taste that sweet&sour gummy i got, or the beer someone brought me. I can still hear the screams in exact places in the songs and i can remember handing out records for people to cop the tracks. 

I played in Ankali's Planeta Za. My haven for past 2 year or so. I'm super happy and proud and honored and thankful and I just want to go back to that booth again to fuck up little less this time :)
