Den nionde april släpper vi vårt andra album, med titeln Drömmarnas Land. 
En skiva med enbart svenska texter, till skillnad från vår första platta som huvudsakligen var på engelska då den skrevs under turnéer utomlands. 
Denna skiva skrevs i en källarlokal i Göteborg. Mitt under supervalårets hetsiga slutspurt i september 2014. 
Musiken vill göra poesi av bristerna i ett system som är på kollisionskurs med sig självt. Av drömmarna som inte får plats och alla de drömmar som egentligen inte behövs. En elektro-akustisk frustration över en verklighet som är alltför lätt att sova sig igenom.

Ravi Brunsvik is one of the young forces in the current house-scene in Oslo, Norway. He is half of the duo De Fantastiske To, who have released fantastic EPs on Paper Recordings, Trunkfunk Records, Omena, and Ism Recordings. Ravi’s solo project, Rave-enka, has issued a couple of house releases on Paper Recordings, along with a more techno-ish EP on Nein Records. Now Rave-enka joins Beatservice Records for Friksjon – a jam-packed release featuring two glitzy club-ready stompers and stellar remix work from Manchester DJ Chris Massey (Paper, Sprechen) and familiar Tromsø-artist Kohib.

“Friksjon” started out as a remix commissioned for Beatservice, but eventually evolved into a track of its own. It’s a frenzied four-on-the-floor club cut with hints of Detroit and an early ’90s sound run through 2017’s rave filter. This is followed by the hypnotic “Diskomiddel” which features robotic arpeggiations, an insistent bass line, and a totally mental build-up that ideally would be accompanied by blazing strobe lights. On the remix tip, Chris Massey tackles “Friksjon” with confidence, delivering a version that gives the retro-flavored original a modern late-night house music sheen. Kohib then works his magic on “Diskomiddel”, somehow making the track more intense and dramatic with a pulsing drive that will send gravitational waves spiraling all over the dance floor.

Brussels Pony Club - Nightland

Today marks the dawn of a new era in the politics world and 2016 saw monumental shifts in how the world is shaping up for the future. Inspired by a atmosphere of desperation, frustration and a lack of hope we went to music to seek solace, inspiration and a reminder of the incredible things humans are able to do if they are open minded, work together, cross borders and get creative.

Mare Insularum translates as Sea of Dreams and also the name of one of the moon's many seas. In line with our collective, Shika Shika's, vision, the album not only showcases music that blurs borders and genres, seeking inspiration from past and present, but also music that offers hope, escape, inspiration...

Despite these shifts and the apparent slide into a dangerous new world, at Shika Shika we also believe 2017 is going to be a year of resistance and of hope in every corner of the globe. We believe in the power of music and we believe in the power of collaboration. 

We want to say thanks to all the artists for contributing new tracks, edits and pieces directly written for this compilation.

Ecuador’s rising son, Nicola Cruz, returns to Multi Culti with Cantos de Visión

One of the core artists in Multi Culti’s diverse catalog of globally-inspired dance music, Nicola Cruz is deservedly becoming the poster-boy for a new wave of producers that fuse indigenous sounds with internationally professional production, creating something entirely new, sonically. It’s a genre that Multi Culti ambassadors Dreems & Thomas Von Party refer to as ‘Folklorica,’ a psychedelic replanting of folkloric roots, and nowhere is it more skillfully executed than on Nicola’s tracks. 

Following up on his debut LP for Latin America’s indie powerhouse, ZZK Records, the return to Multi Culti sees Cruz sharpen his focus toward igniting the downtempo dance-floors that have slowly been gaining ground in clubs and festivals recently. This new club sound is at the fore on lead track Tzantza,  already an integral part of Nicola’s live shows and DJ sets at festivals like Sonar and Mutek. What stands out most, other than the sampled lead Marimba, is the sheer mass of the kick drum, the immense pushing power of this 102 bpm chugger. Bruxo and Danza de Visión follow suit, flexing some seriously first-world mixing mojo, elevating Cruz’s work to heights that the growing legions of flute-bearing imitators will only reach in their stoned dreams. 

The vinyl package will also feature Mantis and Invocación, off his debut Multi Culti EP, two incredible tracks that will finally get the 12” real estate they deserve. A remix EP will be following in February, featuring remixes from Jaja, Argentina’s Uji, Multi Culti’s own Thomas Von Party, and more.

Ron Costa has found a fitting home for his techno focused productions in SCI+TEC, and his forthcoming ‘Berlidof / Oslo Museum’ EP is proof that the cogs of this particular musical union of minds are well oiled. As always, Ron Costa’s obsession with the groove shines through, and while these are two very different tracks, it is perhaps their distinctive nod to the club crowd that had label boss Dubfire drawn to the talented French artist’s work.
 
On ‘Berlidof’, Costa lets the skillfully carved, bouyant bassline carry the groove, while a dark and twisted vocal draws listeners towards the break. ‘Oslo Museum’ focuses on low end distortion to drive the track, while ominous hisses and purposeful percussive lines take the production from stark minimalism to full on dance floor surrender.
 
After supporting and playing Costa’s work for a number of years, Dubfire is clearly well seasoned in the impressive subtleties of the rising producer’s music and he’s certainly selected an accomplished two-tracker to mark the artist’s inauguration to SCI+TEC.
