He enjoys the freedom of having the time to focus on his music – these days he even has more than last year and last year was already a strong one in Juan MacLean's career in terms of producing music, which – unfortunately – is or was released on labels like Correspondant, Aus Music or Riotvan just when the pandemic hit and brought societies down to its knees. This, however, does not hold the New Yorker back from having, according to him, the most productive time and (re)discovering and concentrating on certain preferences in music, that he processed in his art:cast. Above Juan, how close friend's call John, talks about a possible future of club culture, New York landlords, the benefits of live-streams, the perfect banana bread as well as of how he spends his days and what routines he's developed over the past couple of months – in an honest and straight forward manner, just as he seems as a person, just as his music is.

British artist Mattr inaugurates the new Loft & Sound imprint with four synth-driven cuts entitled ‘Antigenic Drift’ EP. Mattr aka Matthew Clugston is a producer and DJ from Birmingham living in London. Having put on several of his own parties in his home town with artists such as Alex Banks, Maxxi Soundsystem and XXXY, Mattr moved to Berlin to study electronic music production before releasing a several EP’s on Faceless Recordings and Helical Scan that picked up support from the likes of Amé, Laurent Garnier, Dino Lenny, Chris Fortier, Guy Gerber, Anja Schneider, Nick Warren and many more. He now drops the fist release on the newly formed Loft & Sound imprint who place focus on pushing fresh electronic music within the genres of IDM, electronica, leftfield house, techno and leftfield breaks.
‘SubDivs’ kicks off the EP with dreamy melodic flutters, blissful leads and warm, shimmering low frequencies underneath. 4 tracks 'Antigenic Drift' EP out Nov. 10th.

PREMIERE #1295 | Mattr - SubDivs [Loft & Sound] 2020

We are delighted to launch this series in India in collaboration with SUBMERGE - India’s leading dance music collective founded by Nikhil Chinappa. We at SINCHI got the opportunity to have a conversation on the status of the music scene, culture, gender roles, and various challenges it faces along with India’s unique ability to transform the challenges into opportunities with both Nikhil & collective member Manny, who also curated 3 artists who have put together sets, showcasing a distinctly Indian underground sound that represents the scene in its authentic form. Our 2nd mix from this series is from TOTOROTO (@SKIPSTERMUSIC), the alter ego of DJ SKIP who brings a multidimensional approach to Djing and turntablism. This is what curator Manny has to say about him: He is easily India’s most influential turntablist and one of the most versatile DJs in the country. He is an IDA world No.3, Redbull 3style world finalist, Multiple time DMC India winner besides having numerous other championships under his belt, and the first turntablist in the country to be on an Emmy award-nominated reality show. I invited Skip to stitch 60 mins of different styles of music as only he can sampling Indian instruments, music, and films into his eclectic set.

Who is he?: TOTOROTO is a brainchild of @Skipstermusic also known as DJ SKIP. With this new moniker, DJ skip presents the experimental more independent style of music by combining electronic sounds from analog machines and sampling organic foley sounds as well as old Indian cinema. 

His recent work “Change Hobe Pro Scene from his latest EP  East Ended Play got great response also it was the first-ever Bangla (Regional Language) Track to feature on VH1 India. 

In the field of music for more than 16 years he has managed to gain a reputation of being one of the most technical and versatile DJ in the industry.  With 5 national championship titles under his belt he has also claimed the title for NO.3 DJ in the world in the IDA world DJ championship held in Poland. His debut album Bass & Tings (2016) was highly appreciated by the DJ industry and the tracks had been used by major fashion labels for their collection as well.

Melodic filling indie with the addition of electronic bits, synthesizer parts, devoid of narrow frames, styles, and directions. His works were released on vital labels such as Night Noise, Nein, Esthétique, Calypso, and Playground.

Mexico-based producer, musician and DJ Max Jones started experimenting with incidental music and movie scoring some years ago, which made him work over a wide range of musical genres and styles, finally reinforcing his own perspective over dance music and the club scene.

Not only as an active producer, Max has also proved a unique and undefined style when performing live and DJ shows, enhancing an organic yet synthetic vibe, leading to a blasting dance floor experience.
