While listeners around the world continue to play the rich array of tracks on Coloray's debut album Future Static, Atomnation now serves up some tasteful remixes of it by Baril, Sam Goku and Nadia Struiwigh. The album served as a portal to a different world with stylish synths bringing plenty of colour and emotion to the club-ready grooves. Now they are all reworked for different moments on the dance floor but with equally high levels of design.

Baril - one of the main artists of Coloray's Intercept label - flips 'Broken Mirrors' into a scuffed-up groove built on crisp breaks with a faster tempo. Melancholic pads bring a sense of sombreness while the airy, half-pitched vocals add plenty of soul. A perfect piano-laced breakdown builds the energy so that when it drops again hands are sure to go in the air.

Sam Goku's own music was the subject of a fine remix EP late in 2020 and now the Munich-based artist shows off another side with his cosmic take on 'Line Break.' Slivers of synth shimmer and shine while suspensory chords bring more bright light to the tight, twisted drums and bass that take you ever higher.

Sydney-based Dutch artist Nadia Struiwigh offers the final remix of 'Center Of The C#' after establishing her unique sound on labels like on Central Processing Unit, Denovali Records and Nous'klaer Audio. She slowly builds a vibe over seven enthralling minutes, initially with majestic ambient synth work and then with subtle drum rotations that lock you into a state of hypnosis.

All three of these remixes bring a fresh perspective to the still essential originals. On top, a peak time bonus remix from collaborator and friend Eagles & Butterflies is in planning this summer for when the 12" vinyl will hit shelves. Stay in tune for more!

In the third episode of YNTHT Live we visited Norway and Oslo's Urban Sound Studios where native disco-pop wonders hubbabubbaklubb recorded the brand new track "Virkelighet" exclusively for us. Oh, and as usual it was all performed live in a silent disco kind of way as the audience were only able to hear the music with headphones on their heads. But hey, let's just remove the "silent" in silent disco shall we?!

It’s not often that a drone piece starts an album off with a bang. But that’s exactly what Gregg Kowalsky’s “L'Ambience, L'Orange” does. Opening his new full-length L’Orange, L’Orange, the song starts as kind of gentle wake-up call, with thick, escalating tones that evoke time-lapse footage of a morning sunrise. The intensifying sound waves feel like they could go on forever, but after two and a half minutes, “L'Ambience, L'Orange” stops abruptly with a hard cut to silence. It’s a rather shocking move that sets a brave tone for the rest of L’Orange, L’Orange, an album in which Kowalsky reimagines ambient drone, refreshing it with a blissful, optimistic spirit. 

“I didn't want to just make an ambient record where every song fades in and out,” explains Kowalsky. “This song opens with pure bliss, and you're in it, and time goes away. You’re wondering, ‘Am I thirty seconds in or 10 minutes in?’ Then it just cuts out. That edit is me saying, ‘Hi, I'm here again. Remember?’” It’s a fascinating way to jolt listeners out of comfort zones, but there’s more to the track than the sudden reminder of its creator’s hand. Kowalsky’s ending encourages you to play the song over and over, to revisit the intoxicating atmosphere that’s still ringing in your head after silence steals the scene. Repeat listens reveal new layers in “L'Ambience, L'Orange”, an homage to the life-sustaining sun that packs a universe of sound into just a few minutes.

Contrary to the songs name, this interpretation of a traditional Afro-Brasilian candomble song, appears to be forged from mythical lost amazonian gold. Recorded in Sao Paulo with an allstar cast of Arteria FM (on vocal duties), Salvador Araguaya (caressing the Viola Caipira) & Spaniol (stroking the Baixo), steered by Nicola's production prowess, this quartet delivers a melodic enhancement to the summer sun. As if the sun wasn't shining bright enough already, the single comes backed by a remarkable remixer ensemble procured from their duties as fellow sun-worshippers : Xique-Xique's Dragonfruit Mix is a wondrous journey full of surprising leaps and bounds, alternating between hypnotic electronics and organic song structure. Saving the best 'til last he raises the energy whilst keep the beats low and the vibes ecstatic. HIT ! Crussen's creamy cocodub raises the energy whilst concentrating on a dubbed out groove, (that) classic Crussen bassline and carefully sliced & re-appropriated vocals. Finally in-house poster-boy Carrot Green's Granola mix combines disco, deep grainy bassines, juicy bells and signature flourishes into a bowl of magical mind-whirling hip-spinning edible sex. Following their 2016 album Calico Review, Allah-Las return with Covers #1, the first in a series of EPs exploring tunes near and new to the band. For the debut EP in the series, the band offers renditions of George Harrison’s “Fish On The Sand,” Kathy Heideman’s “The Earth Won’t Hold Me,” 90s LA cult band Further’s “JO Eleven,” and Television’s “Hard On Love,” an unreleased song from the band’s Marquee Moon recording sessions.

Allah-Las recorded Covers #1 at the Pump House in Topanga Canyon while working on material for their next full-length release. The selections are comprised of old faves and newly discovered tracks that became ubiquitous sounds in the studio between album takes. The EP will be released on Mexican Summer on Nov 3, 2017, as limited edition 10” encased in a high-quality embossed jacket and available on all digital formats.

Allah-Las is composed of Miles Michaud (vocals / rhythm guitar), Matthew Correia (drum / vocals), Pedrum Siadatian (lead guitar / vocals), and Spencer Dunham (bass / vocals). On the road the band has built a dedicated following with extensive, sold-out tours and high-profile festival dates.

David Douglas (1983) is a Dutch producer of electronic music. David Douglas (1799) was a Scottish plant hunter who explored North America collecting seeds of plants and trees unknown to mankind at that time. Inspired by the Scottish botanist, David from '83 started looking for his own musical seeds. The greatness of nature – the sublime mountain landscapes, Icelandic lupine fields, arctic coastlines, Californian fir forests – invigorate his music.

'Royal Horticultural Society' is David’s debut EP although it sounds like anything other than a debut. His music can be described as warm, playful, analog, adventurous, diverse and pure. But most of all as he quotes himself: 'It's electronic music for the mind'.

'David Douglas - Royal Horticultural Society' will be released digitally June 12th.
