Aubergine MACHINE is a collaboration between world renowned multi-platinum selling producer Ian Carey and new-comer to the scene Shanti Ellis.  They formed the band in late 2012 after realizing their unique capability to create genre-blending electronic music.  Having both travelled the world in their own right while picking up many influences along the way, their mental catalog of music includes everything from pre-EDM electronica to the uber-current sounds of future bass. 
Ian’s very established in the international House Music scene and has visited more than 60 countries on tour sites. His production, while cutting edge but not alienating to new listeners, combines with Shanti's brand of indie-pop laced vocals to build a foundation of melodies that range from youthful to emotive and haunting. E11is is an American singer/songwriter raised in New York and Maryland. She moved to The Netherlands in 2003 and during that time she took co-ownership of electronic music labels, bookings and events. In 2007 she wrote and sang her first song "Love Won't Wait" an electro house tune released on Germany's Kontor Records.

After leaving The Netherlands and relocating to Spain's Costa Blanca, E11is continued working in the dance music industry and eventually penned "Shot Caller", released on Spinnin' Records in 2009.

In 2011 she returned to the States and decided to use the pen name Shanti Ellis instead of her real name as she did in earlier songs. Her 2012 collaboration with Aubergine Machine launched an EP and was a different direction, more experimental and not dancefloor driven. The singing and songwriting collaboration continued including some music production. As a result, a few more singles were released including "Sundown" in 2015. E11is, now signed to Australian publisher TMRW music formerly MOS Australia. continued the AM collaboration to release a second EP, "Wildlife". The single "Only" was the most successful from the followup EP. In 2016 E11is collaborated with Australian producer Paces with the single "Until" on his debut EP.

In 2019, E11is relocated to Los Angeles to pursue creative work.

They first met while working on a few E11is mixes and decided to write 
songs together after discovering they both wanted to revive trip hop vibes and dive into alt RnB sounds. The first release they wrote, “Underneath” was completed May 2021. 
 Zeph has produced for Sam Dew, Kai Straw, & Citizen Cope and engineered for many artists like Santigold, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV On The Radio,
