In this world of expectations where success is a decree

In this circle of demands the pressure still expands

Education should be the key, but if the pressure breaks me?
What if I cannot break free?

You think when I smile I’m shinning so bright, but deep within there is a fear I can’t fight
All the pressure closing on me, expectations, how to be free?
How can I handle the wight before it is too late?
The obligations are so strong, where do I belong?

Success is what we strive for, but I wonder if there’s more

Hey…. Did this song go in so many directions until this final recording. It started as an electric slide song, then a mandolin song, and finally as an acoustic guitar/recorder song. You know I laugh every time I play recorder. Just imagine a rough and scrappy, wild old man creating such a thing. Hahahahaha. Anyway, there are a lot of crows here. When I was working on the slide version, I heard them cawing outside as they flew by. (I scrapped my impromptu birdcall crowing on this, no one needs to hear that, not even the crows.) Lyrically the song has 2 distinct moods with some vocal transitioning. And guess what folks: As a novice singer, I can finally vibrato my voice… some more shenanigans you’ll have to put up with. Back to the crows. In town, we have a huge flock (murder) of town crows. Hundreds. They sure love fast food, and hanging out by the high school where tasty, tossed tidbits can be had. They are organized too, as if in an air force, as they are mostly wary of us humans… Finally, happy holidays to all who celebrate, and happy times to everyone else. Hope you enjoy this one. This song started with Tez coming up with a heavy riddim and monster bass to go with it, over which he laid his clockwork rhythm guitar. He shared it with Josh, who came up with the piano and organ parts. It was pretty much done, but we wanted vocals on it, so it languished on the digital shelf for almost half a year. 
  That is until Saskia heard and worked with Tez on a different open collab on his page. He then offered her this one. She downloaded it, added her superb vocals, and sent it back to the other two to review. They were blown away by her creativity and skill as a singer, and are very grateful to her for reviving the project. 
  When it was all laid down, Tez mixed it expertly, as always. Saskia took his mix, sped it up and adjusted her vocals, too. She is a very competent producer, as well.
  Tez and Josh are big dub fans from way back, and this is the latest in a couple year running series of collabs in the genre from the two of them. They are very grateful to Saskia for doing such a wonderful job of completing the song. Look for her in future collabs, both with Tez and Josh, as well as with their band, The Eclectic Collective. We all hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.
