Mark Miller is an award-winning poet and photographer who has published four books of poetry, the latest being Light and Counterlight (Ginninderra Press, 2020), a selection of his haiku from over 400 that have been published in international journals and anthologies. His haiku have been featured on buses and trains, on the walls of a public swimming pool, and on art installations in parks and malls. Mark lives in Shoalhaven Heads, Australia.

A track I originally made in Summer 2020 with North American writer Francisco Cantú.  For the re-recording of this track I kept the lockdown themed Spoken word by Francisco but created a whole new backing music, much more stripped down then the old verion.
Very pleased with how this sounds.

Step 2: Now rerecord the piece of music you decided upon in Step 1.

Audio Obscura  - Three Sisters (with Francisco Cantú) [disquiet0579]

Written for Disquiet Junto 0579. Ran out of time, of course, but tried to revisit a track that I previously made in 1993 using OctaMED ( https://soundcloud.com/floor-51/betrayal ) . Still prefer the original, but with a bit more time I think this mix could be ok. I'm not so keen on using the 1984 samples - actually lower quality here than the ones I was playing on the Amiga, I think - but it didn't seem honest to revisit the track without them.

Evolutionary Phrase Backup [disquiet0580]

I had two ideas for a new Techno subgenre: “Fibonacci Techno” and “Technoviking Techno”. The first would follow Fibonacci numbers as closely as possible. The second would sound like the first track in the famous Technoviking meme video (acoustics, not melodies or beats). The first I deemed easy to pull off, the second impossible. So to make a challenge out of this, I merged the two genres into “Fibonacci Viking Techno”. I followed the numbers as closely as possible, e.g. setting all values of instruments and effects to Fibonacci numbers (which musically makes little sense - but the concept asked for). The bass drum is on 8, most other things on 1, 2, 3, 5, 13 or 21. For effects I went up to 89 - wow! Then I tried to boost tone whole thing to Viking level, which I unfortunately did not reach. Kept it really short with lots of breaks, which is the norm in this genre.

Chaque morceau est une pièce d’un labyrinthe intérieur, chaque personnage un masque tombé dans le puits. L’Âne Flûte n’est pas un autre. Ni le corbeau. Ni le roi des rats. Tous parlent d’un même lieu, d’un même cœur fendu par les années, par le doute, par l’épuisement d’être. Ce projet est le récit d’un seul être qui s’est éparpillé pour mieux se rassembler.

Il a fallu deux années pour oser cette traversée. Deux années à visiter chaque recoin de la caverne : la peur, l’égo, la honte, la colère, mais aussi la lucidité, l’éclat d’une étoile dans la nuit, les murmures d’un espoir sans nom. C’est une cartographie de l’âme, un théâtre peuplé d’ombres qui sont toutes un seul corps.

L’intelligence artificielle n’est pas une coquetterie ici, mais un choix essentiel. Elle sert à ôter la voix de l’auteur pour révéler la voix de l’œuvre. Ce n’est pas lui que l’on écoute, c’est ce que ça dit en lui, et peut-être en chacun. La musique devient alors canal, les voix des archétypes, et l’auteur, un passeur anonyme qui délègue l’incarnation pour que l’essence passe sans entrave.

C’est un opéra intérieur, un carnaval de symboles, un murmure d’enfant vieux.
Un seul être se cherche — dans mille visages.
