VILENA is a Los Angeles based DJ/Producer playing underground electronic music that contains all shades of trippy, deep and driving, sometimes abstract sounds with a progressive touch. Vinyl collector with a genre-blending deep cuts

As a producer, VILENA likes to work in fields of off-beat and minimal and groovy rhythms from sensual downtempo to faster dance floor tracks.

VILENA performs regularly on stages of most underground and atmospheric spaces of Los Angeles and beyond.

Not everything is what it seems in a world plagued by uncertainty. Propaganda and misdirection are planted like breadcrumbs, on a trail leading away from truth. The binary of day to day life and the delicate fabric of society shroud reality, whilst an intricate web of lies and false innuendo mask what is, and hide what should be.

Every so often a shift in the musical paradigm occurs, a glitch in the Matrix if you will, and through this anomaly, this black hole, this vacuum of bass, the truth cuts through.

Given the option of taking the blue pill or the red pill, we would strongly recommend you take both! Because Audio Anonymous, the enigmas, the masters of synth, the captains of your soul, the doctors of destiny, the men who invented sound itself, will go far beyond even the farthest reaches of the rabbit hole and teach you how to truly feel.

Like Daft Punk before them and most likely no one after, they prefer their identities to remain private. However this is most likely because, as rumour has it, they don’t actually have faces, which would look really weird and might bum out any tweaked ravers on the dance floor.

Darien J, based in Brighton UK, is a producer, curator, and mixer of deep dance music. He has a firm belief that his music is for dancing not chin scratching, foot gazing, ego stroking or selfie taking. Like a musical sponge Darien constantly absorbs wide-ranging influences and is wrung out on radio stations and dancefloors around the world.

Totally ignoring genre limitations, he manages to combine elements from the deepest side of house, electronica and techno in both his DJ sets and productions. This kind of petulant behaviour might be expected from a young upstart new on the scene but believe it or not this is a veteran of over 20 years who has dance moves to match.

Since his debut release of The Dubstar EP on Cubism Records in 2008 his skills in the studio have improved in equal but opposite measure to the decrease in tempo of the music he is willing to dance to. His latest releases have been described as sounding like ‘the abandoned love child of a twisted love triangle of Olivier Giacomotto, Stephan Bodzin and Solomon’. 

Over the years Darien’s music has found homes on trendy labels like Motek, Submarine Vibes, Inside Out, Chapter 24 and melodic house and techno imprint Polyptych records based in St Petersburg.

Residencies in 2022 for weekly Friday event The Social Shift and the monthly MIN:Animal parties alongside guest appearances for fellow Brighton promotions, Berlin-Brighton, Size and G3t Loo5e. 

Forthcoming releases in 2023 include EPs on Sound Vessel Recordings and Saturo Sounds with plenty more to come.
