And so began our next chapter this past weekend in Phoenix, where we proudly introduced bassist Alana Rocklin to the STS9 massive on a magical night at McDowell Mountain Music Festival.  This show featured it all, from two debut tracks (New Dawn, New Day and World Go Round), to some classic STS9, all with a noticeable punch of renewed energy.  Thank you all so much for your support the past few months.  We promise we’re going to return the favor ten fold for many years to come.  See you all in Vail in a few weeks.

2014.03.28 - McDowell Mountain Music Festival - Phoenix, AZ

Section Records reboots and opens 2014 with the release of Audioglider's long-awaited debut album, ‘Accidental Beauty’. 

With echoes of Cocteau Twins, Nils Frahm, Boards of Canada, Nightmares On Wax and Ulrich Schnauss, Audioglider a.k.a. Roberto Sodano’s blissed out electronica has won him fans across the downtempo community – from The Big Chill through leading blogs including astrangelyisolatedplace, to DJs including Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and Glenn Morrison. 

Audioglider releases appeared on labels such as Global Underground, Morrison Recordings, Renaissance, Exceptional Records and FOEM, before finding a permanent home at Section Records, who released the ‘Summer Rainstorm EP’ in May 2013. 

‘Accidental Beauty’ is a masterpiece of cross-genre downtempo; from the cinematic opening with the ironically-named ‘End Titles’, through the subtle and intricate 21st century breakbeat of ‘Fluid Motion’ (with Florida based artist, D-Step) and ‘My Tru Blood’, via the dubbed out ‘Dynamic Uno’, the trippy beats of ‘Just Sound’, and the closing euphoria that builds from ‘Disappear’, ‘Polydirective’ (with Chicago’s Mucci) through to the beautiful, ambient closer, ‘Cortexaphan’.

Audioglider - Cortexaphan

I discovered Frankie Knuckles through his music, one that was, gentle, lush with a subdued, understated power that rocked many a dancefloor.
I had the privilege to hear him once in the heyday of his legendary residency at Sound Factory Bar in New York. I was submerged, sonically and emotionally by the beauty of the music I heard that night. I remember very clearly saying to myself that this would be impossible to ever equal.
That was 20 years ago, and I never got to hear this magic combination again.

I got to meet Frankie a few times, and he was always like his music, gentle, humble,   yet naturally imposing

I've put together here some of my favorite music from him. So that his legacy can keep on inspiring other people.

Rest in peace, Frankie, may your music keep on moving people eternally

I recorded this on May 3rd in my Piano Diaries folder. It's actually the third piece I recorded last night which needed the least amount of edits (only one note I changed).

I was going to add pads to the song, but I think it's beautiful and relaxing without it.
