Lived in a family of four with my mother, granny and pa 
Mother, she was a therapist, Dad, he was doing law

Education a must, paying private tuition 
And catching the morning bus, Sundays was for religion 
Everything was conditioned for me to pursue my interest 
Comforted when I’m distressed, so much that they had invest 
Studying Medicine at Columbia on a scholarship 
Always been pushed, since 7 I was an honors kid 
Competitive, and the pressure push me to bigger heights 
Everything in life handed, and yes I did it right 
Committed wife, and living in nice communities 
Saving up so my kids have similar opportunities

Going to work starving, tryna avoid eviction 
Public school in the city, so many days I was absent 
English my second language, their making fun of my accent 
Still in the same grade, it’s a struggle just fucking passing 
Police came when I’m 5, and I haven’t seen my dad since 
Below the average, indulge in addictive habits 
Oldest out of my siblings, and that was the disadvantage 
Dropped out, ran as far as I can imagine 
Ignorant to the consequences of my actions 
Survival tactics, perseverance I mastered
But, for many years, seems like none of it mattered 
Opportunities shattered, wandering in the wild 
Until I found meaning from the birth of my own child
