Energy 52's Café Del Mar is one of the most iconic tracks in dance music.  Over the years, Café Del Mar has achieved legendary status, regularly featuring in lists of the greatest dance tracks of all time.  To put it simply, Café Del Mar is a cultural phenomenon, encapsulating the spirit of an era and influencing generations of artists and fans alike.

 Superstition Records appreciates the 30th anniversary of the legendary track with a limited box set release consisting of four 12”es and an exclusive Bonus-10”.

but this hasn’t, not really. this is what i do, and have been doing every night since i was 17.

i find records i love, i fly to a city. i take a nap. i play the records for people. they dance. i get paid i go home.

sometimes i actually think there might be something wrong with me to STILL be doing this. am i stupid?

HOW…. how could you STILL be playing records for people at 5am. shouldn’t you have developed an APP? A line of Wellness Products? surely you should have “sold your company” by now? WRITE A DECK? raise capital!!!! Get bored.
but then i play a set like this (link above) and remember that this is, in fact, as good as it gets, that the core idea i had as a 16year old was actually the BEST idea: to live a life surrounded and protected by MUSIC. armed with your favourite songs, the ones that keep you young and confidant, the ones you want to share with friends.

so that is DJing for me. simple. not particularly revolutionary… except for the fact that to be excited and happy seems revolutionary these days.

also: i’ve played about 4500 parties. and most are like 6 or 7 on tens….. sometimes an 8.

THIS WAS A 10. And the 10s never get recorded. there are lots of exclusives and THREE of my new tracks. and its been recorded WITH all the crowd noise…. trust me its a good one.

Hamburg’s Stimming arrived on the hospitable shores of a freshly cut Audiomatique with the wonderful Buxton Pipes EP.

With releases on Diynamic, Freerange, Terminal M, and Liebe*Detail, Martin Stimming’s career had been boosted by the underground hit Una Pena the previous year and peaked with his debut album Reflections earlier that same year.

Buxton Pipes, the lead track on the EP, was a beautifully reduced, gentle roller that combined textural, shifting filtered percussion, phasing, effected melodies, and a rich sub-room sound design that confirmed Stimming’s talent for working those subliminal zones. Dainty, pretty, and yet totally punchy at the right volumes, it was a genuine slice of ultra-modern micro-post-minimal-house.

Continuing the trippy, time-melting vibe perfectly, Kakusei followed with its pushing array of softened percussion and carefully extended spooky breakdowns. Sliding and squelching through 7 minutes of prime tracky workout territory, it was another stellar addition to the record.

Finally, the skipping Seepferdchen threw a spanner in the otherwise smooth grooves with delicately jacked drum patterns and controlled sub-bassline throwdowns. Super funky, ultimately reduced, and sample-heavy, it made those afterhours carry-ons all the more delicious. Simply superb work from Stimming on Audiomatique.

Release Info: 
TheGround is Florian Kruse and Hendrik Burkhard, - the two celebrated producers collaborated on a project that saw the release of 'Dediction' on Audiomatique Recordings last year. Happily, Steve Bug’s label has organised a stunning remix EP, teasing out many new directions from the killer source material. 

First up is Stelios Vassiloudis’s sleek remix of 'Creature', utilizing his signature feel for arrangement and dancefloor impact. The veteran Greek producer shapes an epic take on the original. 

The Berlin based Jonas Saalbach focuses his talent on 'Falling', which features the remarkable vocals of Mi.li.an. Saalbach teases out yet another slice of perfectly pitched emotional tech house, doing more than justice to the original. Saalbach also delivers a dub of the same track, pulling back the vocals and letting the groove take center stage.

Next up comes Vincenzo’s take on 'Crumbling Walls', which strips down the track and builds into powerful deep groove. The vocals are again by Mi.li.an, and sit perfectly within the melancholic, euphoric vibe. 

Fake Mood, the Russian producers, take on 'Undercover' and hone in on the track's innate melodic sensibility, creating a lush, dreamy dancefloor burner.The track is also presented here as an instrumental for the DJs.

Long time in the game, he started his music career in 2007, with his first vinyl release on Stokholms, Heya Hifi. Since then, Kruse has only grown as both a producer and a DJ. With releases on Bedrock and a remix for label head boss John Digweed.  Florian has devoted their entire life to electronic music.

Born and bred in New Zealand, Barton and Hayden Strom make up the production and DJ duo Out of Sorts. The brothers have been building a reputation for slick, weaponized tech house, primarily under a series of other monikers such as Antix, Fiord and Triangle. Here, Audiomatique release two prime examples of the Out of Sorts sound with the Grenada Village EP. 

'Holy Toledo' pays homage to the legendary Brazilian surfer of the same name, taking inspiration from his graceful power. A thick, smooth moog voyager bass line cuts through the mix to provide the bedrock for a fully primed dance floor bomb.
