'Various Assets - Not For Sale 2013' is a collection of some of the music that was made during the Red Bull Music Academy during four early summer weeks in New York City last year. The double CD contains 30 tracks composed, improvised and discovered by the 62 international participants and a cast of high-profile studio team members, who all got their fingers dirty on synths, Mellotrons, vibraphones, drum machines and anything else they could lay their hands on. Enjoy! 

The floor beneath your feet. The walls around you. The ceiling over your head. If everything got switched around like a mechanised tumble room, the aftermath might sound like this track. Bluesy, gritty electronic funk that hops between Peru, Austria and Brazil.

"Zane and the Apple team politely extended a promotional opportunity around the release of 'The Mountain Will Fall' in the form of my own Beats1 mini-series. Each show was designed to illuminate the listener to different facets of my career up until that point. I basically had three hours to bring people up to speed so that the new album had context. At one point they asked me what I was going to name it, and I had a funny picture of a guy in my phone, so I used his image and added the hashtag '#Radioface,' for whatever reason. The name didn't really stick, but it was fun putting these together. "- DJ Shadow

"Shortly after finishing my 2016 album 'The Mountain Will Fall,' I was given the prestigious task of preparing my second Essential Mix for BBC Radio1.  It had been nearly 15 years since my first go-round, so I felt obligated to go all the way in. This first part was all about the new, showcasing my favorite underground beats & stuff.  As with my first Essential Mix, the gears shift radically at the halfway mark, so it seemed to make sense in a streaming context to let this power-hour stand on its own."

"If you're having a difficult time identifying any of these tracks, there's a reason for that...they're all derived from vintage demo cassettes, most of which were unheard by the general public until this mix.  It's something I had been planning for some time, and it all feeds back into the 'crate digger' aesthetic I've always valued so much as a DJ.
