Josh Teed is a versatile, classically trained, and technical musician. He picked up the violin at the tender age of 3 years old, going on to win the Florida Fiddle Championship at 9. Upon discovering electronic music, he began exploring his talents further and intertwining them with his newfound interest. His productions pay tribute to some of his electronic influences such as Charlesthefirst, CloZee and Govinda while still remaining unique and properly showcasing his vast expertise in instrumentalism. His live sets incorporate violin, didgeridoo, and live analog synthesis overlaid on top of every element of a great DJ set, keeping listeners engaged and entranced for every second he has the stage. In June of 2020 Josh launched the Taiga Collective, a nonprofit label centered around melodic and world bass music. Taiga Collective provides an avenue for talented, like minded musicians to release their music with all profits going to wildlife conservation. Although a lot has changed, Josh still keeps the same vision he started out with. Josh Teed aims to push the envelope and break the seams between bass music and live instrumentation, blending the two effortlessly to take listeners on a tangible, palpable journey through an eclectic variety of soundscapes and grooves. His EP The Journey East is an intricate look into his experimental collaborations between a multitude of other producers including MORiLLO, Bastion and more.

Creation is Creation, out February 25th on Gravitas Recordings, is a philosophical inquiry regarding the alchemy of creativity. Inspired by nature, Somatoast makes use of the natural world to serve technical, musical purposes. Seeds pods make shakers and icicles are a percussive ensemble. This electro-acoustic fusion spans six original tracks and four remixes– marking another unique development in Somatoast’s ever-evolving sound.

Tapping in Boyd Hill introduces the album with its sweeping aural environments and grounding tapping that begins the story of Creation is Creation, which is that human creativity is the same force of all creation. The tapping heard in the track was recorded live in Boyd Hill Nature Preserve in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dawn embraces the texture of a seed shaker found in Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. By letting the naturally found sounds do the talking, Dawn comes off with a simplified yet refined sound design. Namesake of the album, Creation is Creation is a jazzy approach into the essence of this album. Featuring expansive atmospheres partnered with piano riffs and inspiring lyrics, Creation is Creation dives deep into exploration of the universe that resides all around us.

An organic reprieve in the middle of the album, Kokoa features distinct usage of primitive and empowering vocals before segwaying into Icicle that was inspired from the Texas Freeze in early 2021 with lush guitar lines, rippling breakdowns and grounding bass. Lastly, Ooh Yeah is an experimental glitchy departure from the rest of the album, highlighting resounding soundscapes underneath bouncing plucks. As a bonus, the album rounds out with remixes from Lapa, Edamame, Skysia and Kaya Project.

3. You're Beautiful

The Shanti Planti collective is honored to present and showcase its third vibratory exhibition, Whitebear’s new EP, “Transmute | Release.” After much anticipation, this multifaceted musician is finally ready to unleash his second official release. Feast your ears on four supersensory sonic offerings, which were originally inspired by the extremely profound metamorphosis and pervasive life alteration that Whitebear has undergone and overcome, over the past year.

Within this resplendent release, we hear the distinct development and elemental evolution of Whitebear’s signature sound, as he experiments with tribal percussion, mind-expanding sound sculpting and earthshaking musical techniques. From the first note of the title song, it is evident that each tune has been imbued with a sense of higher purpose, to guide the listener to a state of centralized clarity, and ultimately, ensue equanimity. However, these tracks are just as powerful and hypnotizing, on the dance floor, as they are intellectually stimulating and spiritually uplifting. Forewarning, the bone-rattling bass and galactic glitches that underlie these psychedelic, auditory adventures will cause one to be enraptured, and dance until night begins to embrace light.

On songs such as Depth Charge, an indescribable amalgamation of Jazz and mid-tempo, broken beats is epitomized. A heaping dose of ivory tickling, from a Rhodes, assures the soulful sway to this unstoppable groove. We are also given a taste of fellow up-and-coming Australian producer, Auma, and his reinterpretation of “Depth Charge”, which seemingly takes on a more so upbeat and pulsating polyrhythm. As the song progresses, it melds marvelously into a dreamlike Dub aesthetic, and playfully augments and inverts the most significant component of the track, the bouncing keys.

This release also features a Whitebear remix of Tara Walsh’s song, “White Flag”, that tugs on the heart strings and contrasts the depth and darkness of ‘Transmute | Release” and “Depth Charge” with its heart activating, nostalgic vibrations.

Whitebear and Shanti Planti, are proud to share these endearing expressions, and hope they provide the darkness in which the listener is able to channel, harness and bring their own light into the shadows that are vital to our growth as spiritual beings.

This album has been years in the making. While there have been a good few successful EP releases over the last few years from me, putting a complete album together has been a different story.
I didn’t want to just throw 10 songs together and call it an album, I wanted to make it a cohesive, auditory journey. After what maybe seems too long, I have finally managed to achieve that goal, the end result is my first album ‘Fabric of Life’.

I could give you my background, but it wouldn't really tell you how it shaped me. I could show you photos, but you would just see my mask. I could tell you a story, but lyrical self expressions aren't my forte. You could ask my friends, but they'd give you their version of me. 

But if you were to just listen intently to some of the music I make, you'll hear my soul ripped intricately open for all to see....

David grew up surrounded by music (at least until he took his mother’s record player apart at the age of 6 to see how it worked). His favourite toys were those that made or recorded sound. One of his most loved being the Stylaphone, which he was given at the age of 4.
David began Djing at the age of 18, playing local events and clubs whenever the opportunity arose, often for free, solely for the enjoyment and satisfaction it gave him.

Whilst at University in Manchester, UK, David co formed and ran a successful club night for 3 years, playing to a loyal, continuously growing crowd every fortnight. Success in this arena lead to David securing many bookings at local clubs and events around the North West of England.

Through his love for Djing, David felt an increasing desire to create his own music, and explore the soundscapes that were building up in his mind.

The day that profoundly changed David’s life, and enabled him to realise his life long dream occurred by chance. A friend took him into the University music studio, briefly showed him how to turn the keyboards and equipment on, gave a ten minute lesson in the music production software on the computer, and left the room. 6 hours flew by, completely hooked, he had found the path he had been searching for since he was a child.

Ever since, every penny he shouldn’t have spent, every spare moment he has, goes on letting emotions flow through sound. 

David donates much of all royalties received from the sales of his music to good causes.
