Bach: Suite for Cello solo no 1 in G major-Prelude

The Serenade No. 13 for strings in G major, K. 525 was written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1787. The work is more commonly known by the title Eine kleine Nachtmusik. The German title means "a little serenade", though it is often rendered more literally but less accurately as "a little night music". The work is written for a chamber ensemble of two violins, viola, and cello with optional double bass, but is often performed by string orchestras.

Images du Futur, this year's Secretly Canadian-released sophomore album from Montreal's Suuns, receives fittingly edgy remix treatment from Canada's premier electronic label, Turbo Recordings. The nationalistic pride ends there, however, as the remixers are strictly European.

Leading the charge are Scottish techno prodigies Clouds, arguably the most important artists to emerge on the roster of Tiga's 15 year strong imprint since Duke Dumont and Gesaffelstein rose to stardom. Their remix is a brooding stomper that reflects the development of their sound in the concrete wonderland of the UK's underground scene. It's not bright or obvious, but, as with their recently released debut lp, it's a rewardingly profound listen for what is essentially a club-shaking DJ tool.

Fellow 'New Jack Techno' cohort joeFarr turns in two stellar versions built around massive distorted kick drums, already on the hype radar since Tiga kicked off his acclaimed Boiler Room set with the second of the two, a decidedly more clubby effort while the first mix chugs along at a slower tempo, leaving extra space for all the grit and grime of his heavily textured sounds.

Finally, French DJ-journeyman Ivan Smagghe weighs in with a pair as well… firstly converting 2020 into a style all his own, a kind of zombie cowboy march as It's A Fine Line (alongside Tim Paris)… and, even more finally, with a brilliant re-edit of an older track on Suuns's catalog, Up Past the Nursery. It's a deep, after-hours epic and surely the most accessible and pop moment on the EP, sure to fit in equally well into the sets of house DJs as well as late-night loft-party hipsters.

Steinway artist, Chad Lawson, decided Chopin needed a new introduction.  Along with violinist Judy Kang (Lady Gaga, Ryuichi Sakamoto) and cellist Rubin Kodheli (Kanye West, Norah Jones), Lawson has arranged ten Chopin works into a minimalist landscape.

It's a risk editing the "poet of the piano" but one that Chopin would be proud of.  

Taking 10 Chopin works, Lawson decided to scale the works down to a minimalist setting.  "I knew even if bare-bones, Chopin's works could still be as spellbinding as the original compositions we are so familiar with." says the pianist.

Frederic Chopin, Nocturne cis-moll (Eugene Mursky)

Singing in the Wine Cellar in Jersey City, New Jersey I recorded these Christmas songs in 1999. My friend Mark Cook was being a true friend and allowed me to stay with him while I went through some stuff of life. He recorded the piano on an electronic keyboard. I  then sang and recorded the vocal tracks. I have done some editing and wanted to share them with everyone again. Peace to you all. Audy
This recording of Swan Lake was made by me using Cakewalk Sonar X2 Producer, Software. I found the conductor score online, printed it for the recording of all instruments. This is my interpretation of a great work of music.
