We've featured work from all three recently, (see Sinistarr's "KNS 2019", HomeSick's "Running on Empty", and our premiere from the Worst Behavior Vol. 2 compilation, A-0's "This Against That") so it's safe to say we were excited to this dream team come together. If you've been following Booms and Claps for a while, you're certainly familiar with both Andre Lira AKA Doctor Jeep and China-based imprint Unchained Recordings at this point. Although Andre is undoubtedly known for his range and multi-tempo excursions, ranging UK funky to techno to dubstep and grime to more umptempo "halftime DnB" sounds, his releases that could be considered traditional drum & bass are rare in the grand scheme of his vast discography. That being said, you would never guess he's not a seasoned DnB veteran from the expert vision and production of his three-tracker entitled "Unreal EP," forthcoming on Unchained on Friday, April 10th, 2020.

Today's premiere comes in the form of "Angel VIP," a contemporary DnB revisit to his 2014 club-rattling 130bpm anthem "Angel." The original tune was released on the now defunct Trouble & Bass (RIP) and has been known for years as one of Doctor Jeep's standout productions. The VIP version you hear today creates an entirely new shell to carry the always-notable buzzing melody into 2020. Check it out above, and be sure to cop the full release when it drops on 4/10/2020.

Serving up his signature style of big drops, frenetic growls and mutated bass, the A-side sees leading tracks 'Garvey' and 'They Know' marry his legendary origins in Dubstep with the carefully crafted, UK-techno assaults of his recent work.

Early support from Mall Grab, Darwin, and Loefah puts the tracks firmly in the UK techno scene’s ‘gully-130’ dangerzone.

The B-side sees Biome exploring his sound further. 'Equinox’s' dense textures perfectly accommodate its dub-heavy moments as it subtly creeps into the listener’s brain, whilst 'Stagger’s' laser-sharp groove explodes in bursts of energy as it scales the heights of its 81-style soundscape.

The aptly-named 'Conquer' brings the They Know EP to its gut-wrenching climax, starting with suspense-building hi-hats and ending with an aggressive breach of tech-out rollage: dark, bassline-driven UKG at its finest.

Designed for dark spaces and big soundsystems, KAIZEN continually moving forward.
