augie stacks. (born Austin Fehrenbach) is a multifaceted vocalist, songwriter, and producer residing in Columbus, Ohio. He puts to use a skillset mostly developed by ear over the years since his childhood, during which he would record original songs using the tape deck at his grandma’s piano. Now in his early thirties, augie’s musicianship is shaped by a combination of influences, most notably: his exposure to jazz at an early age — thanks to his mom bringing him along to his dad's late night gigs as a trumpet player in a Dayton jazz band — along with augie’s own sponge-like absorption of the lyrics and musicality of the array of singers whose music his mom played around the house growing up. All of this significantly contributed to the artist that augie has become and is today. The choral instruction augie had the opportunity to receive beginning his freshman year of high school and the vocational music education augie was afforded as a junior and senior in Columbus City Schools' high school career center offerings all heightened his appreciation for music and singing as art forms in and of themselves, and began to give more structure to the way that he would perform and arrange his vocals, and format and record his original music in both live performance and studio settings. augie attributes the soulful aesthetic of his voice to his father and stepmother's early introduction of the music of artists such as The Jackson 5, Prince, and En Vogue. augie’s subsequent purposed departure into the exploration of the diversity of music and sound, and his own artistic self-discovery likely took the most shape after his dad gifted him Mariah Carey’s album “#1’s” in the fifth grade, an album that profoundly impacted augie because, in listening to it, he was able to see and feel seen in an artist with not only almost other-worldly vocal gifts, but the ability to write sung stories so masterfully. Today, while the tape deck of years past is the usually the voice memos app on augie's phone, and he has graduated from the GarageBand software of his middle school days to Logic Pro, augie is always writing and recording, with the dream and aim of supplying the world with music that inspires and uplifts.
