Egopusher are drummer/producer Alessandro Giannelli and violinist Tobias Preisig. Their music is a visually loaded amalgam (think synaesthesia) of classic and advanced electronica and contemporary-neo-classical. It’s the type of music that begs for wide-screen movies to be shot to.

AUGUR ENSEMBLE consists of 5 young and upcoming musicians from Switzerland, Norway and Sweden. focused on working as a collective with „open-source“ compositions and reworking the material with an improv-approach, the ensemble goes back to a very old manner of making music: composing, arranging and improvising are considered as equal artistic gestures.

the  rich sound of the ensemble is an important anchor of the creative work and combines traditional and extended playing techniques. this may reach from instrumental songs, free tonal 4part-chorals, percussive layers, shimmering drone sounds to soft noise structures. the word „chambermusic“ is mostly related to the dynamic spectrum, which is best transferred under full acoustic conditions: augur ensemble does not provide the big blast, but sensitive and versatile interaction between players and the room.

Tobias Meier is a musician and artist based in Zurich, Switzerland. He regularly performs internationally, for instance with Silvan Jeger as "Cold Voodoo", with singer Dalia Donadio or as Through States of Matter in changing settings. Tobias Meier has written and performed various works for solo saxophone, as well as composed music for contemporary music ensembles and performed various scenic sound-performances. As a composer and improviser, he is interested in architectural gestures: the scenarios and methods of design, the setting of tonal coordinates, along which, the music gradually develops. For him, this process entails an irreducible experience that is to be re-engaged with again and again. For him, generating a musical space of sounds, time and pitches represents an event, rather than anything autocratic or finished: he explains that only the listener completes the music and assembles it to form a whole. For precisely this reason, he considers the shaping of music on an organisational, receptive and discursive level to be just as important as the actual playing of music. As organiser of the concert series Seismogram and the Wiediker Jazzfest, as co-founder of the self-run label Wide Ear Records, as editor of a zine for musicians (first released in 2015) and by designing and making his own CD and LP covers, he quite tangibly shapes the appearance and framework conditions of music. What lies behind all this engagement is not only the immense love and passion that he obviously feels towards music, for which he keeps taking new risks, but also the ongoing implementation and further development of his ideas.

In June 2011, we booked a spacious room in Basel (CH). After Hannes Kumke had provided his wonderful recording-material, the rehearsals — initially intended as an intensive tryout only — turned into a serious recording production. The upshot of June’s get-together are tunes, which reflect our current interests and creative process.

On REVOLUTION, you will find us whistling, clapping, scratching, improvising, rattling, and singing; grand piano, drums, double bass, distortion, feedback, space echo, instrumental preparations, and a cassette recorder make REVOLUTION a synthesis of our new musical course and of sound, which we have developed during the last few years while touring. One of the songs features U.S. based guitar player Fred Frith as a special guest. 

Kamikaze was created in 2011 as an outlet for our musical instincts. At the time we were at art school and the idea was to make the kind of music that would breathe  some fresh air into our concept-filled brains. The band has evolved and we have constantly shed our skin, as was necessary for us in order to continue to exist. Now the time has come for another giant step forward. 

We no longer feel represented by our name, for it recalls sad and violent acts in a time where humanity needs love and noble acts more than ever. At this time of renewal, a new name has been given to us by the poet Mercure Martini, who has baptized our new creature. So long Kamikaze, long live Marquis Malanga
