Chromatica [Melodic Electrostep]

Hey all, this is the first track of my 2 track Lost EP. 

The inspiration for this track stems from the cover art, and the thought of a certain scene. I imagined Fluttershy sitting by a dark windowsill, the only light coming from a flickering candle sitting next to her. Outside, a snow storm billows, scraping and banging into the window. As she slowly falls asleep in the cold, the candle flickers out and leaves us in the darkness.

Everyone's fav hippie returns! Wanted to try something a little different with this one, so no teaser, as I finished this mostly within 2 or 3 days. Big ups to Vylet Pony (https://soundcloud.com/da5h-records) who helped inspire this track with his more recent style of uploads, check his shizz.

I tried to go for something super mellow and chill while still holding some sort of edge. I focused more on the start and stop percussion stuff, and kept the slightly bit crushed chords there to help push my point. 

I tried to emulate what I thought it would feel like to roam around the mind of someone like Tree Hugger, and I think I managed to capture it pretty well.

This style is not for everyone though, but most listeners should get a kick out of it!

Here it is, the first track from my 'Basking in the Earthlight' EP. I'm releasing this early as a teaser for the EP, which will come out sometime after the next Ponies at Dawn album.

My inspiration for this is captured amazingly in the coverart that the wonderfully talented Puffy (http://puffysmosh.deviantart.com) drew for the EP! Along with this will be supplied other drawings that she has been working on, and I can guarantee you they're going to be amazing. I tried to capture the feeling of being weightless, suspended in a vortex floating above the known world. But I also tried to capture the wonder you would feel at looking at such a sight, and the amazement you would feel just from witnessing it.

This track took me roughly 24 hours over the course of quite a few weeks to complete, but I think it turned out fantastically for the amount of time and effort I sunk into it. The rest of the EP will be available at some point after the next P@D album, as I've already said, and will most likely feature some tracks that I submit for said album.

Enjoy this buffet of benevolence, this feast of festivity, this cornucopia of contentment. Okay enough of the alliterations, this is an uplifting wip I'm working on. The melody is subject to change but I'm REALLY happy with how clean and solid the mix is sounding so far and how the percussion and rhythm work together as well as the chords

After a long hiatus of trying to overcome some personal issues, burnout, and depression, I've finally completed another song <3

If I had to choose any meaning or inspiration for this song, it would be rebirth. Like a tree, cut down only to shoot off a new sprout from the stump. The sheer emotional feeling of overcoming everything you thought you couldn't.

Others, when listening, told me they thought of driving along in a futuristic city. I suppose that could be correct too, since we need to look forward if we want to let go of the past.

I've only articulated up till around 1:00 or so. You'll notice the dynamic range changes a lot around there and the instruments just kinda blur together after that. I've gotta fix it to sound more like the first minute. There's also a few pops but this is a quick pre-work render before I go to my dayjob. I plan on changing the melody and elements in the second half to have more variety too.
