Just played this out and thought it sounded good. :)

When morning comes, the sunrise will follow, and then the flowers will  begin to bloom.

Oh the places those researchers make me go!

If it weren't for the immense importance of their work (and yes, perhaps more than a little contributed curiosity on my part) my explorations would trend on the more pleasant side. Sometimes you just have to get your hands dirty though.

Well, everything's dirty this time. This little swampland planet tucked away behind a group of behemoths isn't afraid of a little humidity. Far from it! This may actually be the wettest world I've seen that isn't encapsulated in water. Puddles abound of course, as do the occasional deep pit of grime here and there, but the (very soft) terrain does dominate the landscape.

Of course, this is an absolute haven for all sorts of fungal life, a home for all forms of mushroom, spore, and mold. There is even a strain of the first of those that rises taller than the trees that surround it!

Naturally I must collect samples of these curiosities.

I'm having quite the time of it. The mud and muck clings to me, making every step a labor of love. The going is slow, and I don't enjoy the fact that the distance I travel will have to be covered once again on the way out since my ship is far too bulky for these dense groves.

It would not even be so bad if not for the peanut gallery of swamp creatures remarking upon my journey. I have piqued their curiosity, and they remark upon my journey amongst themselves like a sludgy chorus. They are not hostile, but I could do without the narration.

I know this escapade will be worth it, but the only thing keeping me going right now is the promise of the longest shower of my life that I'll be indulging in once I'm done.

THE SECONDS OF DAWN • Ambient Cello Improvisation with Electrosounds

Artifex (noun - Latin): practitioner of an art, craftsman, creator

This track acts as a small case study, epitomizing both my sound and what I try to achieve with my music. I start with a blank canvas and employ the simplest of motifs, a pulse on a single tone. With each subsequent layer I try to add intrigue and detail, giving a direction to the piece and painting a picture for the listener. Each layer is treated analogously to how an engineer would make use of a fundamental principle in their trade, ultimately arriving at something comprised of much greater complexity.  Finally, a simple harmonic structure is introduced, rich and vibrant in tonality, which I attempt to complement through the continued use of driving percussive elements. I intended the final product to feel built from the ground up like a group of architects beginning construction on a monument, only with the brick and mortar and mathematical axioms substituted by sonic motifs.
