Two Thousand Years Later

"Balance" is a 2-track single from my side project "Katahimikan". 

"Shimmer" and "Gloom" are, from the starting point, both the same track. 

The difference is in the processing and resampling, which I executed in completely different ways: starting with an audio file sampled from some of my old music, I created the first track, "Shimmer", which then I resampled to create the second, "Gloom".

Written before, while and after embracing an emotionally dark place, it's part of one's journey to self-awareness. There's love, anger, rumination, meditation, and realization. It's a lingering, gentle, pensive rise presented as a melodious milkshake of stories, experiences, and feelings.

I hope you'll just enjoy it somehow. Maybe it will make you feel better about your day, maybe it will make you embrace or escape your darkness. Maybe something else. I guess it depends on who and where you are.

As the end of the decade approaches, I wanted to put something out that for me, captures (almost) 10 years of work under this alias, but also looks to the future.

"Decade" is an ambient piece that was mostly sequenced live, primarily written on the excellent Novation Peak, all in 1 day.
