Molde International Jazz Festival (MIJF) (established 1961 in Molde) takes place annually in July, and is known as one of the oldest jazz festivals in Europe. It was initiated by the local Storyville Jazz Club. Since 1964 it has received government support, and the government Buddy Award was for several years awarded at this festival.

The Australian Army Band is made up of 11 separate bands, both regular and reserve, located all around Australia. Army bands can be found in each capital city as well as in Wagga Wagga, Townsville and Newcastle.

The Australian Army Band is tasked with maintaining Esprit De Corps among troops, as well as engaging with the community, and being the public face of the Army.

Bands contribute directly to the wellbeing of the Army and the community through participation in Military ceremonies and parades, Regal, Vice-Regal, Federal, State and Territory Government ceremonial functions, music education programs, concerts and community activities. 

The Admiral's Own Big Band is comprised of musicians from the Royal Australian Navy's Sydney and Melbourne full-time band corp. 

As the name suggests, our first feature album "Compositions"  features original compositions by members of the Royal Australian Navy Band. 

This is the first time the Royal Australian Navy Band has produced an album of purely original music showcasing the capability of our big band. We are very pleased with the result and hope you enjoy listening and sharing our music. 

Formed in 1998, the Toronto Jazz Orchestra is an 18-piece big band made up of graduates from Toronto’s top university and college jazz programs – some of Toronto’s best young jazz musicians. Performing exciting and interesting big band music – from the leading edge of contemporary composition to the classic tunes of the past – the Toronto Jazz Orchestra seeks to educate, entertain, and increase the public’s understanding and appreciation of jazz.

Over the past twelve years the Toronto Jazz Orchestra has performed regularly at Toronto’s Rex Hotel; since winning the top prize at the Markham Jazz Festival’s Jazz Stars of the Future competition in 2000, the ensemble has appeared in the JVC, Beaches, Lakefield, Markham and Toronto Jazz Festivals.

As part of their regular performance schedule, the Toronto Jazz Orchestra has undertaken several special projects: in 2001 they released their self-titled inaugural compact disc to strong reviews and were awarded a Toronto Arts Council Project Grant for their performance of the Cuban Fire Suite, as recorded by the Stan Kenton Orchestra; in 2002 they presented an evening with Phil Nimmons, featuring a performance of The Atlantic Suite. In 2003 they released their second compact disc, Under A Tree, which exclusively features original Canadian compositions. In 2004 they presented their first annual Young Composers Competition, designed to encourage the creation of new works for big band by young Canadian composers, and presented the music of Stan Kenton.

In 2005 the ensemble performed in Collingwood and Sarnia and presented a sold-out performance with Grammy-winning vocalist Kurt Elling; the fall of 2005 featured a visit from Jim McNeely and a tribute to the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra. In 2006 the Toronto Jazz Orchestra performed with New York saxophonist Seamus Blake and was nominated for a 2006 National Jazz Award in the Best Big Band category; the following year they presented the Music of Duke Ellington, including a full performance of the Such Sweet Thunder suite, and a special performance of music from West Side Story, supported by a Toronto Arts Council grant, featuring 12 new arrangements by 5 local composers. The 2008-2009 season, the ensemble’s 10th anniversary, featured the release of The Path, their third full-length CD, and a performance with acclaimed Canadian trumpeter Ingrid Jensen as part of the Toronto Jazz Festival. During the 2009-2010 season the TJO presented a tribute to Buddy Rich, their first ever Call for Scores, and a performance with internationally acclaimed pianist Geoffrey Keezer during the TD Toronto Jazz Festival.

Toronto Jazz Orchestra founder, Artistic Director and Conductor Josh Grossman is a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Jazz Performance Program where he studied trumpet with Chase Sanborn and Kevin Turcotte. He has performed in big bands under the direction of Phil Nimmons, Paul Read, Ron Collier and Paul Ashwell, and has played with The Whitney Smith Big Steam Band, Freeflight, the Array Jazz Orchestra, the Hamilton All-Star Jazz Band and the Chris Hunt Tentet. From 2006 to 2009 Josh was Artistic Director of the Markham Jazz Festival; in January, 2010, Josh was hired as Artistic Director for Toronto Downtown Jazz, which produces the annual TD Toronto Jazz Festival. Josh also works as administrator for Continuum Contemporary Music and Co-Chair of the Program Committee for the Jazz Performance and Education Centre.

The main city festival based on live music, improvisation and good jazz music

In the beginning of November IDeeJazz, Tartu’s own jazz and rhythmic music festival focuses on Estonian music charged with the creative energy of this city.

During three days the audience can directly experience genuine Estonian compositions and performances from outstanding musicians of many different generations. The common denominators uniting the best thoughts of the Estonian jazz elite and the brave and positively charged projects of the younger musicians are consonance of sound, improvisation and the idea. 

The festival isn't following any strict line when it comes to genres - it's beginning with mainstream and chamber jazz, then heading on to ethno and world music, ending with some groovy rhythms and fusion - and even placing some special and new soundscapes between it all. 

Founded in 2000, the collective known as Jazz Mafia is one of the most ubiquitous names in innovate music on the West Coast, including such artists as: The Shotgun Wedding Quintet, Realistic Orchestra, Joe Bagale, Jazz Mafia Symphony, Brass Bows & Beats and founder Adam Theis. 
 This talented group of musicians seamlessly combines Latin polyrhythms, boom-bap rhymes, melancholy ballads, swinging jazz and blistering solos, while at the same time adhering to symphonic structural elements. All spun together in the spirit of a Jazz Era big band- but conducted with a maestro's sense of timing, timbre, and mood- the experience is akin to watching the New York Philharmonic back a street corner B-Boy battle in the heart of downtown Oakland.

The "Brass, Bows & Beats" premiere sold out two shows at the Palace Of Fine Arts as well a sold out a six-show run at Yoshi's in San Francisco. The 60 piece incarnation of Jazz Mafia's "Brass, Bows & Beats" that premiered at the Palace of Fine Arts was recorded and released as a live album in June 2010. 2010 has been a break through year for Jazz Mafia, with performances at the Newport Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Playboy Jazz Festival (Hollywood Bowl), and the Monterey Jazz Festival. 

The original 60-piece Palace ensemble can be pared down to a tighter core of 40 to accommodate and emphasize more intimate settings. The piece marks a coming of age for The Jazz Mafia as a new voice in composition. Jazz Mafia Symphony is a monumental achievement displaying an exciting barrage of compositional elements, which the composers ingeniously weave together through a complex blend of skill, talent and courage. An eager and quickly growing global audience awaits their further contributions. A creative force on the Bay Area music scene for more than a decade, the loose-knit band of jazz cats, MCs, arrangers and composers known collectively as The Jazz Mafia, is fast emerging as the most prolific musical organization on the West Coast. Launching some of the Bay Area's most innovative and stylistically expansive ensembles, these musicians contribute their varied talents to a cross-cultural mix of new beats and melodies, blended with instrumental virtuosity. The Jazz Mafia Horns have recorded in the studio with Carlos Santana and backed artists such as Zion-I, KRS One, and Thomas Dolby. Other bands in the JM pantheon include The Shotgun Wedding Quintet, the incredible Realistic Orchestra, Supertaster with Joe Bagale, Brass Mafia, Jazz Mafia Trio, Spaceheater, and The Shotgun Wedding Hip Hop Symphony.
